WOW Rob: That is one nice camp. Great view and looks to be set up quite well. I enjoyed the leveling the pasture video. What do you plant in the pasture?

Took it easy yesterday. Replace a LED puck light that illuminated a small charging station counter we have in the kitchen. This is the first light failure in the kitchen. The puck light is 120V and the transformer bit the dust. Part came in the mail on Saturday so it was an easy project. I needed to level up the outdoor flattop griddle, another easy project. Did a Spatchcocked Chicken on the EX6 yesterday and it was delicious. I like it when I can pick up a whole chicken for under $5.

Today is shopping day, I have a trifecta on the schedule, Home Depot, BJ's Club, and Harris Teeter. Such a hard life in retirement.

Everyone have a safe day and accomplish something around the home.

    Good morning all,

Lots of projects for the retired group. Funny how the old 'Honey Due' list becomes our daily job now...

Cut down eight trees yesterday and dragged them to a slash pile we are building up on top of the hill on our adjoining property. Left 3' - 4' of the trees so I can push out the stumps with a tractor later.

Took the dogs for an early walk and just in time as the sky broke at 1300 with hard rain, hail and wind. Rained most of the night and more coming today - YEA - spring rain is very welcome here..

I do have six to eight more larger trees to cut down around the garage and back of house before I can focus on our adjoining lot. Once those are down I will work hard to get the next 3 acres mitigated this spring now that we have a wet buffer to work with. Oh, I have to cut down two trees in the dog pen due to mistletoe - not the stand under for a kiss but the kind that kills trees.

Have a great day everyone, hope your toilet project goes well Mike - nothing like a crappy job for the start of your first retirement week. LOL

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch folks! Stress test in ATX this morning, and stop somewhere for a new toilet valve. Hmm, is Mike starting something here? Yesterday, float stuck both high and low, and couldn't be made happy. So, new valve today. Then, the tension rod in wifes shower decided to eliminate it's tension, spilling her new for Christmas and not used yet bath soaps. Tried to retension it, but the cam just gives out when I stick it back there. She ordered a new one.
Heard about the truck yesterday when I wasn't expecting it. He said it was the electric fan (!?) causing all the trouble on his getting it making AC. I don't understand it, but I said rip it out, and put in the factory clutch fan. I may be putting in a new old shroud if he can't find one in stock. Then I got lectured on aftermarket. I may see truck tomorrow.
And I NEED a Stress Test? :frusty:

Wax rings are cheap, when I take up a toilet and replace it I just use new wax rings. What I started doing about 40 years ago is using 2 wax rings, one on top of the other. I’ve never ever ever had a leak.
Oh by the way, I hate plumbing. If there’s a way for something to leak I finds it. But the double ring thing works.

My house, built around 1994 used oval rings. Oddball seals, when we replace the toilets those rings were not to found. $600 for a plumber. Jackhammer, new ring installed, toilet sealed.

The good news is we finally have three new toilets, and all three Kohlers have power flush valves. I'm a "super pooper". Parkinson's constipation issues. My all-time record was I weighed myself walking into the bathroom. Finally pooped after four days (whew!). I was eight pounds lighter! I went from 256 to 248. Old toilets were constant "where is the plunger?" but not an issue with a new one. My record for no movement was nine days (not good, after four seek medical assistance).

Got some fun time in Sunday afternoon (honeydew's completed). Made some Taco Chips. Can anyone figure out what I'm making? 20210516_173152.jpg 20210516_153757.jpg

Afternoon Folks. Looks like you are starting your retirement off on the right path Mike. Just take time in between chores for your self...also every now and then take a trip back to your old job and walk in with a big smile on your face. I do that occasionally and they curse the hell out of me for being so happy.
Looks like everyone is or has been busy which is a good thing. We are waiting for the fellow who is building our kitchen cabinets and his installer to come. After that (if I get Deb's permission) it will be demo time :woot:.
Have a great day all and be safe.

Thanks for the double ring info. I've only set a few toilets, never had a leak at the connection, but this could be the first. With all the junk flooding the markets these days, it's difficult to find quality. The current one is American Standard, 30yrs. old.

I may single ring it, for now. Then when another layer of flooring goes around the flange, effectively lowering it a bit, double ring it. Make sense?

I'm no plumber, but I play one on TW.:D

    Good morning everyone!!

Yesterday was gorgeous here in northeast PA! I made a run to Lowe's to pick up the new door for Lynn's green house and the to the pool store for some Ph Down for the pool. I also got the pool solar cover cleaned and vacuumed it out again - should be ready to go. Then I decided to wash the truck - always fun time for me. Someone in 3rd Gen asked about the electric power washer I use and someone then posted a link to a recall on the unit - replacement of the plastic pressure wand but I use a better one anyway. Submitted the recall form for replacement, though.

No big projects today. Need to run a few errands and remove 2 shelves from the old greenhouse. Then I think I'll lay by the pool.

A stress test is your friend. It is just that it takes so long to complete. Glad you are getting the truck problem figured out and fixed.

I have never had the desire to return to the old work location. I do keep in touch with two of my employees. Too much stress from my old job. BTW do you still drive for the dealership?

Mark your Tacoma is gorgeous. Pontiac Bonneville on had a similar color for 1 year in the 2000-2005 model. You see one every now and then and I always wanted to do a proper detail on one. I am off to the garden center this morning to purchase the last round of plants for the home. Need to plant around a tree in the front yard, one last container and the wife wants 2 more knock out rose bushes for out back.

Well, I found another causality from the pandemic, electrical cable. I was at Home Depot to purchase 6 feet of 6/4 inside wire and HD did not have any. Went to Lowes later on and they did not have any. Talking to the employee in charge of the electrical aisle and he said the wire manufacturing plant is still shut down. He also told me that electrical supply houses have contacted Lowes to purchase all the cable they had on hand. Lowes did have some short scrap lengths 6/4 cable for burred installation. I purchased the length I need and will use that for the upcoming L14/50 outlet install at my sisters beach house this Saturday.

Did some Salmon on the Blackstone last night for dinner. Tonight is pork tenderloin. I put both tenderloins in a brine last night.

Flange should always be about 1/4" above the floor surface. Use one wax ring and twist the bowl back and forth a bit while applying pressure to seat it. After tightening the flange bolts pour a bucket of hot (120F or so) water into the bowl to "set" the wax.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porchies! The weather going to be bizarre the rest of the week! It's going to be beautiful, in between when it's NOT! Good luck in advance everyone around here!

New float fixed the toilet just fine.

Tom, my "stress test" is the treadmill, wearing wires, I don't mind it a bit. I added over a minute to my time, which was great, but my VO2 score (carbon dioxide/oxy mix) was 2% lower. They said "maybe" Dr. would check again in 6 months, but by time I got home, he'd reviewed it, and was just fine with it.
After nearly a month, Little Big Red will come home today, with an entirely new AC. Yes, almost every component. :spending: What caused the problems when all the new stuff should have been working? The E-Fan. It's now ripped out, and a new clutch and fan blade in it's place. I have to put a new old shroud in this weekend. Definitely going to be a "phase" in the LBR story......

Man, it's hard to keep up with Ken!

Good Noon Time Folks. Had a CT scan on my knee this morning and then dropped some Verizon equipment off at the UPS store and now lunch and then off to vote. Busy day. Demo on the kitchen can now commence. Got the okay from the cabinet installer. Ne cabinets due in July 16th so I have time to demo it neatly :D.

Gave up driving for the dealership when the wife retired full time Tom. Now if we decide to do something on the spur of the moment we just do it. It was a good part time job for awhile, but now it's time to do what we want to do

Have a great day folks and be safe.

Good day everyone (morning here but not for most on this thread),

Still raining, going on 48 hours now, first 12 were severe now just steady rain - the ground is soaked. This will help our drought significantly, all is good but walking the dogs sucks right now. They get wet and muddy - just a little price to pay for a wet spring seeing we did not get our usual snow in April. I cannot remember when we had such a wet May - odd but really needed.

Pulled up several small pine sprigs - now is the time to pull them where they do not need to grow - too close to larger trees - keeping a minimum of 5' between new growth and older established trees.

Planning an 'off-road' trip with the wife and dogs for July (fingers crossed the fire dangers are low this time). Going from Montrose, CO to Moab, UT on a trail called "Rimrocker" it is 160.88 miles long, 10 hours if you drive it straight through without any issues. We will do it in two days and camp somewhere halfway. Moderate 4-wheel drive trail, the wife doesn't like the extreme trails so I have to schedule those with some friends that enjoy the challenges. Going to add in a few days scouting more of the GMU I elk hunt in on the way out to Montrose. Need more intel on the area we found where they winter graze and migrate from the higher altitude. Need to find some overnight winter camping sites where we can hunker down in wait, hard to sneak up on them when post-holing in deep snow at 0300.

That has been my morning planning session for today - now a quick workout and then some reading. Not much I can do outside today, no let up on the rain until Thursday.

Have a great and safe day,

Just got off the phone with JP Morgan Chase Bank N.A. in Syracuse NY. There is a new scam going around and I was very leery about the check I received two days ago for $252.00. It looks like a legitimate check with a statement attached but neglects to say what the check is for. It is from a company MVW & Affiliated Companies 1965 Hawks Landing Dr Louisville TN 37777. It has a check number, as well as a routing number. I was able to get through to Chase check account customer service and gave them all the information and I was told the check is no good. So just a heads up folks. They are out there to get us .
    Have a great day all.
