I'm not sure that location would be too good for a hitch receiver mount for a bike rack. That location is on the opposite side of the hinge, and may put a lot of stress on it after adding the bike rack and whatnot.

The latches should be something like so:

That is a GORGEOUS bumper! Two questions:
    1. Will it be offered in aluminum for weight weenies?
    2. Any update on pricing since late April?
I've been looking for a bumper for months and this is so clean, and (semi?) modular, it's just... please take my money. :spending:

Hey Steve, when you come down for some testing, bring that bike rack with you and lets see if we can make something work. A hitch mount there would put a lot of vertical load on the swing, not to mention it cant be bolted from the back (that section in the back is boxed in) My best suggestion would be to run a hitch extension to clear the swing outs.

Hey there! Currently no plan on aluminum bumpers. They would need a lot of reinforcement to come close to the rigidity we're looking for, and it would be too expensive production wise to justify.

Because of the recent changes that haven't been tested, we're back at square one on the pricing. Unfortunately no accurate insight.

Sounds good, thanks for the info. Regardless, even at a pig weight, this will likely be the bumper I purchase, it just checks so many boxes for me.

Yeah I definitely will! I'm sure we can figure something out. I'd like to have the bike rack on the swing out so I can have it all out of the way while at camp. I'm using the Wilco swing out right now which is nice, but definitely not as nice as your bumpers and bike integration is pretty critical for my setup.

I definitely hear the concern about the vertical load on the swing out too, but I'm also pretty confident it can be done. Here's how another member did it on his Brute Force dual swing out.

I would love this option. A rack and 2 bikes is definitely not going to be as heavy as my 275/70R17 with TRD rim on it and it could be on the opposite swing out.

You guys can mount anything your heart desires given its within our weight limit. I don't think we'll be offering a dedicated bike rack mount. Average mountain bikes weigh around 27-30 lbs. So give or take 60lbs, plus a 15lbs rack, PLUS the added leverage of hanging it off of the back of tire carrier sounds like a bad idea. Once again, it technically doesn't violate the weight limit, but with the added leverage, its definitely not recommended. Hanging off the bumper hitch receiver is definitely a better load point in terms of leverage.

Sorry to derail the thread ;)

Yeah I definitely wouldn't expect you guys to make a dedicated bike rack mount, just game planning for the future!

Please keep in mind that those of us who bought your bumper before finding out you were making these will need to justify price on top of having to remove and reinstall the bumper (which was a PITA to align properly so the tailgate doesn't scrape) plus find a local welder to add the hinges. If I had known I would have waited to buy the package deal TBH.

Hmmm, 14 hours for me. We might need to work on a pony express type delivery system.
