definitely something we are probably going to want. But damn they are expensive. So not a priority.

 

They are silly expensive. Was wanting one with a bucket and loader till we priced one out. My father in law has one and same one priced today is twice as much as he paid. Hoping a used one pops up at some point.

Yeah used isn't much better. they hold their value very very well so even used stuff is pretty pricey.

We will start small and just get a used full sized something to haul feed, water, and use as a plow truck. Cause I can get something that'll do that for under 10k easy. Tractor will be great for land work but we won't be doing a ton to it anyways. Be nice to bushhog it all and haul hay around and help with fence but...I can just rent one for those small jobs for now.

Side by sides are stupid. They are overpriced POS things that I just hate in general for a multitude of reasons.

















On another note. I officially gave a shit load of money away and now own land!

If added a plow didn't involve welding shit to Frank I'd plow with him. Other than the fact I'd hope he'd be in piece during the winter to be in one piece for summer haha

At least if you make Frank a farm truck, there's a chance you'll ever drive him again.













Seriously though. You will find - if you are anything like me - that now that you are a property owner, your priorities will shift. Building a house. Building a shop. Maintenance. Land development. There is a LOT of fun in your future that may keep you from getting out camping as much as you'd like. Using Frank on the farm might be a great way to have a little fun through all those tasks. Something to think about anyway.

Can't wait to see what you do with the place. Post up some "before" pics for us to all oogle over.

Congrats man! That's going to be super rewarding, setting up your own spot and investing that time, energy, and money back into yourself.

Using light duty trucks as plow trucks is seriously hard on them, even old 1 tons being used to plow get beat to shit. I would not recommend putting a plow on a Tacoma unless it's very light duty (in which case, just buy a shovel or a snowblower), or if you just don't give a shit about the truck at all. Same with farm trucks, they just get beat on until they fall apart.

Although I know for sure you are already right on priorities. But it will still be a big one, just maybe a bit different. My priorities have shifted a lot anyways in the last 3 years. I've invested heavily in audio gear for a studio for instance. And obviously making moves to buy property. So far, I've still been able to go out enough. It helps I only have to drive like 15 mins to go camp on a river vs hours like you but yeah, is different. Im sure it'll only get worse as I actually get a house..haha

And I agree. While we won't have to plow THAT much, we will likely have to deal with 2-4' drifts throughout the winter. Until I can get a tractor or something at least an old beater full size will do the trick.
