New speakers not even wired to an amp yet and getting a hum in the drivers side tweet

    So here's the scenario.

I swapped in all my new speakers and ran all new speaker wire to the rear where it's just hanging out waiting until I finish my sub box and amp rack. So literally speakers installed, not connected to anything but the passive crossovers.

Drove the truck today and noticed a significant hum being introduced into the drivers side tweet in the dash. It continued for about 30 seconds after I shut the truck off and then finally cut out. So somewhere signal is being introduced into completely disconnected speakers. I've NEVER had this happen in any vehicle before.

What in the Tacoma is that noisy electrically? I'm going to pull the kick panel and pull all the speaker wires out away from the various connections and blocks in that area and see if it goes away. If that's not it, the process of investigating gets long and deliberate. I'm hoping someone else has experienced this and can say "yeah, it was this for mine"

"Yeah, it was this for mine."

It was the placement of the passive crossover that I had zip tied to the factory harness. I cut it loose and stuffed it somewhere a few inches away and the noise was gone. Definitely induced noise.

When you ran new wires, did you run new wires to the tweeters in the dash? or just to the door speakers? there are 6 speakers in the truck, they go from the headunit to the tweeters, then to the front doors. Rear is direct.

So if you just ran wires to the doors, then the tweeters are still connected to the factory harness.

This is likely it. I have the xover tucked up behind some of the factory harnesses. I'm going to move it later and see if it goes away.

    Yes, all new.

I moved the crossover to the rear and all the noise went away. Something in that driver's side kick is putting off a hell of a lot of unshielded electrical noise. Oh well, problem solved.
