Odd question. How much are you guys willing to spend on clothes?

I’m a cheap SOB but at the same time I appreciate quality (my winter jackets are Patagonia or North Face).

I’m trying to replace some of my wardrobe (I’m fat now) and I’m looking at some clothes and damn some of these brands are like $80-$90 for a pair of jeans? Am I on crack for thinking thats highway robbery?

I want shit to last, I wear it for years. I especially want good stuff for fitness related things but not necessarily casual.

Should I stop being a cheap ass?

Thats what I thought. I don’t normally go looking for clothes outside of the clearance section. I knew inflation was a bitch I just didnt know how bad and if Ivwas nuts.

A pair of sweatpants I want is $90

Fuck that. I’m not paying more than $20 for a pair of jeans.

I went through 4 pairs of $30 jeans in one year before buying one pair of 686 Traveler Pants for $100. Haven't bough a new pair in over a year of daily wear. YMMV but i'd rather buy once cry once than buy 5 pairs of shitty jeans.

I’m still wearing $20 jeans I’ve had for at LEAST 4 years.

Olympic Weightlifting is my main sport. Lifting as a 73kg Senior. My quads tear through denim hence why i buy baggy pants now with a bit of stretchiness lmao

I am a buy once cry once kind of guy too. I hate buying clothes and prefer to do it as little as possible. I wear stuff for years. So it's like if I really like something and it costs money... maybe not a big deal? On the other hand I usually shop clearance racks for most of my clothes and that still lasts me years.

I will drop money on quality stuff where performance is absolutely necessary like for hunting, hiking, running etc. When you are outside and rely on your gear to get you through the elements, you can't get cheap.

I guess it all depends on what is important to you. I bought $300 worth of Feetures socks last year. Best damn socks in the world and the company really does warranty them for life. They replaced 8 pairs of my old ones I bought in 2011 for no charge this year.

I will wear the same underwear for 10 years even with holes in it, but I'll drop $300 on socks lol.

At the risk of turning this in to a fashion thread......Eddie Bauer jeans for the win.

Fitness crap- Yesterday I went up and doubled what is considered a pretty brutal hike around here. Total was 12.5 miles and 7,021 feet of gain. Mileage is about half my usual big days but that gain..... The way down is a newer trail that is much longer and easier on the knees so the "up" part is a smaller percentage of the overall distance.

I've been trying to incorporate some of my yoga breathing techniques in my rides and hikes. Meaning slow it down, try to keep my heart rate down all while working the same pace/level. Yesterday it worked. I felt less frantic, less huffing and puffing, and the hike felt easier. Turns out it I got a second place on my time up the mountain according to Strava. Woot!!

I buy $20 wrangler stretchies from walmart for everyday "casual" wear. Yard work, farm work, truck work, etc. - non-stretchy whatever is on sale at tractor supply. The stretchy jeans wear out and/or tear too easily.

    @zacharypaul89 is that you?

Low and slow is how you do it. All about a maintainable pace.

Thats a hell of a lot of vert for 12.5 miles!

I'm hiding more than the thumb, boy.

Been lazy, currently waiting on a covid test to come back now cause I've been sick for a week.

Bosu balls, aren't those the balls you put up your ass for pleasure?

Also it is sounding geriatric in here.... Geriatric and small...
