Out of curiosity, for those that are placing deposits on an ordered or soon to be allocated truck, are you securing a sales price and financing at the time of deposit, or once the truck arrives? I placed a deposit for my dealership to locate one, and they’ve since allocated one that should be here shortly. Although I’ve inquired about the numbers/financing, they said that we’ll do that once the truck arrives.

I secured the sales price at the time of deposit. Didn't want to deal with BS dealers pull, they have you by the balls if they know you "special ordered a truck and waited 5 months for it. I was thinking if I don't agree on a price at the time of deposit, then they will surely screw me at the time of pickup.

I secured financing when the truck was in the dealers possession.

I secured a sales price back in September for my truck to arrive 6 weeks later. Even had a price worked out on my 18 sport as a trade in. I parked the sport, drove my company truck for what actually ended up being 10 weeks waiting on my AG. Put 200 miles on the sport in 10 weeks and they dropped my trade value 2500. Plus they now wanted sticker for AG ? Which was 44 instead of the 41,700 they’d promised. Was a bunch of crap to have to go through after waiting 10 freaking weeks??? Good thing I kept my original paperwork from the day we made the deal! I raised so much hell till they honored it. They’re sneaky man - cover your ass because people will be there trying to buy your truck.

 

I have been waiting for mine since the beginning of January.

 

I wish I could’ve secured a sales price at the time of deposit, but the truck wasn’t even located yet. The deposit was pretty much to secure a truck that met my requirements, once located by the dealer. I had shown them a similar vehicle (price, specs, Etc) that was through their website and mentioned wanting to stick at that price range, plus or minus $500, which they agreed. I’m hoping it doesn’t bite me in the ass...

 

Unfortunately we didn’t have exact numbers since the exact truck wasn’t located at the time of deposit. They did verbally agree to a price range, based on a similarly sold vehicle, but not the exact one. The part that worries me (and that I might have to go to battle about) is that they offered dealer discounts at the time of deposit on all new vehicles. My t EU cj is about a week or two out, and I don’t see those dealer discounts on the website anymore, though the salesman said they’d include it in my sales price. Hoping he doesn’t get dementia when I show up to do paperwork!

 

Let me get this straight- you’re trading in a 2018 for a 2021 and it’s more or less the same truck!? For the same price crazy

 

Yeah I was told the incentives change month to month and I’d be stuck with whatever incentive was offered at the time of arrival. Luckily for me it was the one that holds for awhile around Christmas and new year’s. From what I’ve seen about the best to hope for was 500 off and a good interest rate. Think that’s been a given in the south east since then.. Good luck to you as well.

 

Yes sir, I'm getting a 3yr newer truck for the same price. I got paperwork from the dealer in writing with the final numbers and they took a $500 deposit. Love my 2018 and it has less than 4k miles but I figured the trade offer is a no brainer.

Yup, it was a $1k incentive, but has since decreased to $500, which is what I’ll likely get since the truck is due to arrive soon. I’m just hoping they honor the dealer discount we had discussed at the time of deposit, esp since I don’t have numbers on paper (aside from the manufacturer spec sheet).

I got the depends on arrival date as well. Got 500 off instead of 1k, but in the long run what is another 500 on top of your financing. A few bucks a month?

 

Ya I agree, $500 ain’t worth losing sleep over. What bothers me is not getting pricing locked in (to include the dealer discount) at time of deposit.

Did you pay MSRP minus the $500 incentive? I feel like during these shortage times I shouldn’t complain about paying MSRP, but kinda sucks if I don’t get that dealer discount they verbally promised...

 

I ended up paying invoice . I went through Costco and they had 500 over invoice, then minus Toyota’s 500 and I got it at invoice. TRD OR premium with advanced tech package and led fogs ($6000 in options) for a little less than 41k plus TTL.
