    How screwed am I?

Bought the truck as a certified preowned with 32k. I was under the impression all the fluids were flushed. Today at 65k I just changed the rear diff oil for the first time in my possession.

The oil looked pretty translucent, but the mag plug was pretty sludged and had these 2 decent sized chips on it. Is it worth contacting Toyota over? I never noticed any usual vibrations, sounds, etc.

    Not screwed at all.

Keep driving it. Change the diff oil again fairly soon if you're that concerned.

Keep an eye on it. Like @Squeaky Penguin said change the oil again fairly soon if you want to be sure. I changed mine on the truck at 35k shortly after purchase and here recently at 60k. I didnt have any pieces but both times my drain plug had a decent amount of build up on the magnet.

That looks like drill shaving from manufacturing, was probably just a little kerf from the break through when drilling the drain and fill plugs that got knocked off the last threads when the plugs were reinserted after the last fluid change.

Perfectly acceptable, that's why that magnet plug is there for.
