The redbox at my local walmart always has someone renting movies. I think in the times of stupid data caps on home internet, redbox still has a place. Also with many movies switching to "rent through their own streaming platform" it makes it so you need like 10 streaming platforms just to find a movie you want.

They have the physical locations and also have an on demand option. They're not the next Amazon, probably, but at least it looks like they won't be the next Blockbuster happy to see companies realize sales strategies change as technology and demands change, and not some crusty old fart "This is how we've been doing it for 20 years, why would we change now!?" (don't get me started on Uber vs. Taxis)

 

Many people don't realize that Amazon is largely driven by AWS and not the store front. The AWS cloud is quite impressive in the services that they offer. People don't realize how much of the internet runs through Amazon. I have heard that it is more than Microsoft and Google combined.

that is the most terrifying part about Amazon for me. They control soooo much internet traffic. its nuts.

 

recently, their delivery stuff might have ticked up a bit, but yeah their webservice stuff is a set it and forget it. I think it's something like most of their revenue comes via AWS.
