After reading up on this repair and all the questions about seating depth for bushing and new seal, I ordered the ECGS tools to install both. I wanted it to be idiot proof, and it was. Just pound it until it stops. No problems, no leaks, and no more vibe.

Good to hear, I’ve got a bearing race and seal driver kit already so I should be prepared on that front. Seems pretty straight forward overall.

@Hender107 It is. I consider myself moderately mechanically inclined and I did it in the driveway with only my basic tools and loaners from the parts store. Hardest two parts were getting the axle out and getting the puller seated properly. Do a little reading on tips/tricks on it before getting going--could save you some annoyance and time.

You may have to grind the tool down a little to get behind the needle bearing to get it out, I did it this morning with a buddy from here and oh wow the difference it made, I am excited to get back in the truck again.

While I wouldn’t want to do it this way, it’s absolutely possible. We were able to achieve it without taking the coil over out. I then removed the differential drop and that made a huge improvement. It’s definitely the little things.

I replaced the coilovers while I was removing the needle bearing. I didn't bother dropping the diff but I have developed vibes in the rear between 30-40 when the torque converter isn't engaged. Will likely get some 2° shims for the rear axle.

I’ve heard some having the need to grind down the tool, but I didn’t have that issue. I believe I saw somewhere else that ecgs has resolved that issue and the pulled piece is the correct size if you are buying in current times. The older tools needed the grinding. I completed mine with relatively little fuss.

I didn't modify the puller tool, but it did require a few taps to get seated behind the needle bearing.
Once the bearing was out, I noticed a piece of the rim of the bearing had broken off getting the tool in, which is common from the pics i've seen on TW so far. I put the telescoping magnet in the hole to retrieve the broken piece before removing the wadded up plastic and installing the new bushing. Don't forget to inspect the old bearing after it comes out.

@LC7 YUP! I chipped the needle bearing getting the puller in as well.

I didn’t modify mine. I used a magnet tool to hold it in place.
Then used a long punch to TAP it in. Don’t beat on it too hard. The bearing may break (Mine did)

See the link below for details.

    Mine did too.
