Someone explain to my mush of a brain - WTF is this, why does it matter? It's only 100 shares, and the other one was only 250 shares, not like there's a huge volume happening??

 

I think it was about 4 years ago it happened. A data center tech deleted the wrong machine and it took down the internet on the East coast.

Why would GTII be trading like that? Just an algo doing it, doing limit sales and seeing if they can get it up or down depending what their buy/sell goal is?

Price looks pretty steady with volume only highlighted during those times you posted.

 

Correct...someone is marking down the price by selling small amounts of shares at market to themselves (possibly naked shorting or spoofing...)
This is done to trigger stops...and cause longs to sell..

Man, wish I had more fundage to average down and play this one out I am stuck until probably June 10th will be my fundage from XOM for more play monies.

I love that people post their shenanigans to /WSB. Also there are some special people out there, people with "only" 17.5 life savings and they put it all on a gamble like that....yeesh. I am an investor, not a trader, I guess that's why I just don't follow that decision.

 

Here's my opinion..
If we accept there is a trapped short...
This is daily shorters...
You borrow 25,000 shares...dump them back and forth to lower the price $0.10 and then buy back...make $2,500....
Day after day..and this just eats away at share price because of the mechanics of it flushing enough shares to fill the short...
Basically if you see the volume is 50% short they just dumped and covered and that's nearly ALL The volume for the day

 

wash trading to walk the price down and get longs to sell also, creating artificial volume. if they let the volume drop too much each day then the higher the rocket goes when they need to cover

i was looking at $TAWNF yesterday and there was a guy on ST that pointed out that when the price went to $5 a few months ago it was only a volume of 1.6m shares that drove it to that price.....daily volume on that ticker is currently in the 100's of millions.

so how can that happen? what happened on that day for it to jump from 0.16 to $5
