I think it's a fair price personally. I spend a lot of time looking at used vehicles for sale, and in my relatively low cost of living area, the floor price on a working 4x4 truck with no major problems is around $5k. Factor in the Toyota tax and I think he's priced the truck to sell. There are only 12 4x4 T100s for sale in the entire US on Cargurus, and his truck at $6k would be the second cheapest in the country. Used car prices are crazy right now, but that $5k floor is something I've observed for several years.

Awesome. I have noticed that 5k floor as well. Seems like any normal pavement princess or even farmf*cked (mudded, treed, and had a baby cow sh** inside it) 4x4 is at the least 5k.

The sellers attitude has me suspicious but I I think he is just a crotchety old man than doesn't like me because I'm half his age. Lol. Probably expects me to mod it to hell, since its a stock everything expect wheels and tires and maybe a 2" lift.

No but the FBI and Post Office General probably are. There’s a guy with a recent fire thread if you need advice on how to create one.

I live in Cleveland Ohio where rust never sleeps. I have three Gen 1 Tacos. Like a soldier on the 38th parallel, I'm constantly on frame monitoring duty.

We have a salt mine under Lake Erie that most municipalities within 100 miles acquire salt from to put on roads from mid-November to early April. Because it's cheap, readily available and melts ice and snow at certain temps, they lay it on thick and heavy.

On two of my Tacos I've used https://www.autorust.com/product/all-tacoma-safetcap-kit-locations/ with great success. Their products can't save everyone, but if your frame top and about 2"s down is good, their sections can be welded in with decent success. I have one Taco (from the South) with a pristine frame that I try to keep idle on bad snow days (and after) while the other two (that I drive in bad weather) I wash the undercarriage regularly. Those later two Tacos have had SAFETCAP sections welded in and are doing fine. I'm also a big believer in Woolwax as a means to buy time.

If you can weld, you can probably save that truck. If not, any fix will get expensive. The other area I would look at closely are the mounting brackets attached to the frame that hold the body to the frame. Those are critical. It's not worth fixing the frame unless those brackets are good or you can also fix those brackets. Good luck!
