I'm getting it done ASAP. Im not driving it until I get it done... My carpet padding was soaked so I've been working on gutting, cleaning, drying it all out... So far so good... Also cleaned a bunch of muck out from around the sensors in the back. WD-40 ing some parts and connections as well...

    Thanks again for everyone's input.

Here's some pics of the progress...

Luckily I did, I think that's what kept my front end from taking a dive... I don't know how, but my front stayed dry and the back took the brunt of it. Checked the engine compartment and everything was completely fine.

Is that a 2wd? No hate if it is, just curious. Pretty ballsy attempt if so.

    Considering his profile says this:

    I'm guessing not.

It's a 2wd with a locking differential. I'm not sure if ballsy is the correct word, maybe stupid? Lol... Honestly it wasn't looking too deep, I just didn't check it well enough, and the path out was just ahead across it.

I made a bad call, but you live you learn.

I'll be damned. Didn't even know you could get a TRD OR in 2wd.

As long as you didn't shut it off and restart it with the tail pipe submerged, that can suck water up through the exhaust and F shit up

Those used to be known as the Tacoma Prerunners on the 1st and 2nd gens. Toyota just did away with the Prerunner name in 2016

Haha if not for the shelf down there you likely would have been fine but I do think this is a good example of 2wd falling short. I would wager a 4wd would have crawled out of there without much trouble.

    I agree 100%

My dad came out and crossed it with his Wrangler, but the shelf did surprise him too.

Thanks, man. It's amazing what you can accomplish with some sockets and YouTube, lol. And of course the help and feedback from this forum.

It's been a learning experience, that's for sure.

Honestly would have done the same thing, especially with a crossing like that, at one time it wasn't nearly that deep :anonymous:

No RTV needed as there's no diff cover to pull. 24mm for the drain and fill plugs.

I don't think I've ever looked at the diff on my 3rd gen. We've got drain plugs? Nifty!

Used to doing them the old school way.

Thanks for confirming that. I already bought my gear oil and will be taking care of that after I get my interior back in.

I have to pull out onto my street to get to level ground since there's a slight incline in my driveway - can't do that at the moment while everything is out and disconnected.

Thanks to everyone for the help!
