I took apart my dash today and cleaned everything including the AC controls
Now the AC button and air circulation buttons do not turn on. I did spray liquid cleaner on the unit from all sides. It was filthy.

Checked the fuse under the hood for AC looks ok to me. The fan blows and such. Just no lights on AC button and it does not engage.
Pulled cables out the back of AC control unit and plugged in back in.
    Nothing.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Liquid cleaner on an electronic? What cleaner? Was it still plugged in?

It might be time to check EBay for a replacement control module. Without seeing pictures of the board or contacts, it's possible that you fried it.

Next time, air duster. For the real dirty stuff, unplug and discharge all power, then use a q-tip dipped in isopropyl.

I submerged my Tacoma underwater and left it there, after drying everything off it all still worked

Did you plug it in?, Did the connector snap in place

When I was cleaning it was unplugged. After it was plugged back in it actually worked. But then I tried to test it again and both buttons do not light up. Might be the plug. Perhaps I need to try and push it in further but I tried that a few times

The Fan controls also work. Just those 2 buttons do not activate now.

Gotcha. First I would unplug and inspect the pins, make sure they're aligned on both sides. Then bring the unit inside (low humidity environment) and let it dry overnight.

If it still doesn't work, new module would be your quickest fix.

Behold, the entire vehicle maintenance spectrum within the first two responses:101010::101010:

For the record I agree with both of you as I have done both extremes in my own way

OP I'm assuming that used a spray can of something labeled "electronic parts cleaner"? Depending on the brand most I've experienced are made up of compressed air and alcohol so you should be okay.. maybe. Just compressed air does wonders and is always safer.

How much of the dash did you remove when cleaning? I've got cable driven controls so I don't know what yours looks like but maybe a part of a harness got pinched on reassembly?

I didn't realize there was a ditch full of water between me in a flooded street and a dry parking lot

I had to remove carpet from this vehicle, whole dash and clean the back. Previous owner did not treat this truck right. Now the seats are coming out. Ordered new brackets and Cipher seats. Smells like moist butt in the truck. I tried everything to get the smell out

Just went through this myself. Found a bunch of random stuff under the carpet. I also shampooed the carpet and seats and shop vacced it. The truck smells like nothing now. Took me a whole day to do it right.

What did you use for the seats? I am having a hard time getting the musky smell out.

I have three very dirty dogs that I take on multi day camping trips, so I wash mine twice a year by necessity.

I use an enzyme cleaner like Natures Miracle, let that sit for an hour, then get out my bissell machine and go to work. After that I park it in the garage with the windows down, but you can also let it sit overnight with a can of Damp-rid after washing the seats.

The funk it pulls out of the upholstery is amazing. And gross.

    I used this.

    https://www.autopia-carcare.com/meg...FlszTzbLEIKqZdtvoBIaAldwEALw_wcB#.YKVIYBhlCDY

What I did was spray it on and let it sit for 30 seconds. Then I took a drill with a brush on the end and scrubbed it all down. Then I sprayed water out of a bottle and let it set for 30 seconds. Then I went over it with the drill again. Then I shop vacced all of it off. You should have seen the water coming out. Effing DISGUSTING. It was dark black water, not even gray but dark black.18 years of dirt, dead skin cells, sweat, etc. I sucked up about 2 gallons total of this stuff doing the carpets and the seats.
