What is the biggest bolt size found on the 3rd gen?

So I know what socket set to buy.

 

The biggest nut is typically holding the steering wheel.

 

get a metric socket set.

 

I guess it depends on what you're talking about. The bolts holding down the bed are T55. Then there are the axle nuts (not sure on the size there).

 

The biggest I've encountered is the 36 mm for the knuckle side of the front CV axles.

The next biggest if I recall correctly is the 24 mm for the differential and tras/transfer plugs.

Then 22mm for the crank and 21mm for lug nuts.

 

Are you wanting to know biggest bolt size or the biggest wrench size needed to remove the bolt or nut? Two different things.....

There's going to be a few oddballs that are bigger, but a socket/wrench set that went from 8mm to 24mm should cover most.

Be sure to get a few xtra 10mm sockets and keep them in a safe place.

 

There are no safe places for 10mm sockets. The tiny gremlins always know where you put them.
