Is that a cardinal? Ironic that it hit a red bike.

Just had the 12k service done on the GS. Spring and summer is here so many more miles and I foresee the 18k service coming up real soon!

If all you're looking to do is a Saddlesore or similar there is no advance sign up or registration. If you want advice, info, or help just hit me up and I'd be happy to discuss routes. planning, logistics, or anything else you want help with. Gotta warn you though, they can be somewhat addicting after that first one.

The most I’ve done in a stretch was Walnut Creek CA to Phoenix AZ. Made the ride down for Christmas 2019 and I think it was just under 780 miles one way.

Riding period, is addicting. Few weekends ago I rode 300 miles and down skyline drive and back around just cause.

I need to find some time off and plan a trip, once my motobags come in I’ll really try to nail down a trip.

Later this summer there is a FJR1300 meet being held in Colorado on the western side of the Rockies I've been trying to talk my g/f into attending. 1738 miles one way from my house to the host hotel. She doesn't want to ride that far and asked if we could just fly out instead. I told her to let me know which airport I should pick her up at. LOL. Chatted with a friend last weekend when we were in Ohio about trying for a Bun Burner Gold on my way out then just take a day off to recover then finish the ride. I don't really think it's going to happen but I'd like to go if I can.

780 is a damned respectable day no matter what anyone says. Prior to the FJR my previous best was about 450 and change on the Buell in my avatar. That was over 20 years ago and I don't think my back would take it on that bike now.

On the handlebar mount/iPhone failure. This is new to me. Been running an X grip for 7 years, just changed to a quad lock...never had a problem! Now I’m sweating it. I passed on the vibe dampener on the quad lock for this reason. May have to re-think or as you guys suggest: suck it up and study before hand or go back to a map in a tank bag. These things are making us stupid.

really like the mix of bikes in this thread.

Yeah that was new to me too...I'll find out tonight if Apple is going to warranty the repair. I'm gonna keep it in my pocket going forward or use my old 7.

It probably was, robins do the same thing. They will fight their reflection to the death and shit all over the side of your car in the process lol

My one day best was 814 on my 82 1100 Goldwing. On my 06, 625 is tops so far.

I do retire in July, and a Ironbutt or 3 is on my short list of things to do.....

That’s what I’ve come to understand. The vibration kills the internal image stabilizer. Inside your phone camera, there’s a small part of the lens that moves to counteract any vibration like your hands shaking. That piece is working like a gyroscope wether your phone is on or off. I’d imagine it would be less prone to failure if the phone was in the horizontal position but I’m not sure. It’s not a guarantee that it’ll fail but it will definitely speed things up.

I want one because my ass gets sore af on the street ride to the trails, but they aren't cheap.

    Cheap enough insurance IMO.

The cameras fail mechanically. Like a physical part comes loose due to vibration. On or no it's at risk being hard mounted on something with heavy vibrations.

*EDIT* @GHOST SHIP beat me with an even better explanation.

Here is a question for you, it’s a possibility of me flying up to PA to pickup the SV650 and riding it back. How doomed am I trying to ride 550 miles in one day with only being used to 80 mile sprints around down with the grom?
