I think 14k is high for your truck. Maybe not if it was a Double Cab or lower mileage....however there’s nothing wrong with pricing it high and letting people talk you down! I would remove the photo of it crossing a river from the ad if it were my listing. It is a badass and very capable truck. I know you will get a pretty penny for it if you hold out for the right buyer.

 

Any suggestions on good places to list used vehicles other than Craigslist and Facebook? I listed it on AutoTrader yesterday but it hasn't been approved yet.

I took my Fb post down after about 12 hrs. Had 48 messages in that time period mostly asking questions that were already in the description. Had a a couple of guys that just wanted to BS about Tacomas which I'm almost always down for. Had one guy who wanted to make payments. A surprising amount of the messages were in Spanish.

I just sold a car. I had it listed on Facebook and Craigslist. The Craigslist ad ended up getting a buyer. I wasn’t interested in paying $50 to list it on cars.com or any of those other more professional sites

 

Looks like Cars.com is not accepting new ads right now, revamping their site or something. Anyway, I'd personally do CL, FB, and AutoTrader. But I usually just trade things in because I hate dealing with buyers.

 

I hadn't considered trading it in because I know it's worth much more if I sell it myself. But really all I need is enough to get truck+cash for a good used commuter car so I guess it's possible I could find a dealer that would make me a deal. May try that route if I don't get it sold in the next month or so.

 

Maybe see if https://adventure-motors.com/ would be interested in it? I've got no experience/relationship with them, just run across their adds from time to time.

 

Nope. Noooo. Negative. Those clowns will sell anything to make a buck. Overcharge people. Won't take ownership for shoddy work or crap vehicles. Avoid like the plague.

 

OK then. Their stuff always looks a bit overpriced.

 

Haven't tried Carmax, Carvana, KBB or similar?

 

Trade-ins are worth soooo much right now. I see dealers listing used 3rd gens with comparable miles to mine for more than what I paid for mine new.

 

CarMax only wanted to let me provide vehicle info and phone number so they could give it to dealers. No thanks. Carvana didn't take into account mods. Haven't checked KBB but I will.

Been dealing with torrential rain and storms here in Dallas for days now. On Sunday I thought I took a wrong turn and ended up in Houston

 

I see people posting references to Marketplace ads in the 100 series cruisers. Then I see people buying the postings. I would post a reference to the Marketplace add in the 1st gen Tacoma FB group. Maybe in a general Tacoma group. There are people up north looking to buy rust-free southern trucks. It's just finding the buyers.

 

@Enigma8246 , you might also join the Toyota Swap Shop Arkansas group on fb. There'll be trucks for sale in that group that won't be listed in the regular marketplace, particularly purpose-built rigs.
