TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

They ARE considerably cheaper, BUT as of right now I don't see any offerings for Tacoma. That being said, the majority of Toyota VVT solenoids are the damn same, so it's just a matter of cross referencing part numbers and then going from there. If need be we could just settle on Redbullet and use them instead for WAY cheaper then Quantum and reap the same benefits.

 

What about these solenoids would give us these improvements?
How is the reliability?
If these fail, are we in limp mode or?

 

Made in Taiwan vs. Made in China. You be the judge of reliability in that respect.

The solenoids are supposed to have a stronger electromagnet, and from what I remember larger bores which allows more oil flow which ultimately allows better flow to allow for more aggressive adjustments to the cams when commanded.

If they fail you either get codes, hard to start, or a misfire like sensation, or like some of us you may get hesitation at take off. So to answer your question, no limp home.

 

As for factual information. Why is injen technology the headliner on this supposed dyno chart? They make air intakes right?

 

Not the first time I've seen it, but they use Dynojet machines. They probably offer service to locals.

For those that are running the Roush tensioner with the double roller bearing, is the stock bolt that comes off the toyota tensioner long enough to use with the double roller ? or do you have to source a longer bolt ?

The bold that came with the pulley on the Roush tensioner is waay to short to use with the double roller...

Just did my regear to 4.30. Man what a difference!!!

 

Nice!!! My trac bar kit should show up today I think. Once that’s in I can actually try to out the power down with the new 5.29’s. Desert testing last weekend had me already loving them

 

Once I break these in and dump/refill fluid, it’s on to the cam gears

 

No break in with REM polishing the gears
