Okay guys and gals I bought a 2010 Toyota Tacoma base model from my dad after he hit a deer and done significant damage to it passenger side was damaged it’s sat at a body shop since October I got it middle of April I looped the transmission lines together and drove it on a trailer and drove it in and out of the shop as I was working on it I got it fixed and drove it to work 3 times drove all over the place one weekend went out this past Sunday and it would start and die now I can’t get it to do anything but spin over anyone ever had this problem and what did you do to fix it? Note: I have checked all fuses obd2 reader comes up as link error when connected is this a sign of a fried ecm?

How did you check the fuses?

If just visual you need to check them again using a Multimeter or a Test Lamp.

    OBD Fuse.
    IGN Fuse.
    EFI Fuse.

One good test if done briefly is to spray a whiff of starting fluid into the intake while starting. IF it starts it narrows down the cause to no fuel situation and shows that spark and air are good.

    Thanks for the update.
You don’t to see an ECU fail o these trucks too often.

Hopefully it was just bad luck, and not something else that caused it. :fingerscrossed:

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
Before you install it, I would be very concerned with what fried the ECU in the first place, it's really rare to see one let the smoke out on its own these days. If I were you, I'd spend a while testing every wire that goes into the ECU harness for proper voltage/resistance/etc. Especially considering that there was previous collision damage, it very well could have been caused by damaged wiring that got overlooked in the repairs. I'd hate to see a short or wiring damage zap your new computer.
