    Hey guys so after replacing my steering rack and piñon, a cv axle, and a couple tie rods I kept trying to figure out why my tacoma wasn't feeling exactly right even after an alignment. Was taking my front bumper off and then noticed my frame is a bit out of shape on the right side . Anyone have any advice as to what I should do?I know other than replacing the whole frame there probably isn't much. Is toyota still replacing rusty frames? When driving you can notice if your behind the truck that the left wheel is pushing out about an inch or so compared to the back.

    I've been waiting for this shit for a long time;

    40's and tons

    No better time seeing as how you'd be chopping that part off anyway.

    You wreck your truck? If not, previous owner did and probably collected a payout on it, bought it back, and just replaced some parts.

    Ooof yeah you can see that bend in the frame in the first pic. That sucks. I've had alignment issues for awhile that can't get fixed with alignment, bent frame is always in the back of my mind but I've gone over it religiously with measurements and can't find anything off side to side in the frame. Gonna replace lower arms next, spindles after that if that doesn't solve it.

    Frame shop might be able to bend that back, I dunno...I've heard there are cases that can be fixed and others that can't, but I've no idea where the line is drawn. Might be worth looking into

    Toyota is no longer replacing rusty frames on 1st gens, that ended for 2004s in 2019.

    1998s were never part of the frame replacement program anyway, those years got bought back and crushed. But that program is also long gone.

    If that Gas Money Garage guy can wrap some chains around a Ferrari and straighten the chassis, this can be fixed too.

    Just a matter of how much it costs and the effort involved. Might need to tear the whole thing down to the frame, as I'm not sure you can put a fully assembled truck on a frame-straightening jig. Or just run it into a brick wall from the other side to even things out...

    Or, as @Kwikvette says; 40's and tons + tube chassis... :D

    No thanks, I'll pass on this kind of "4" wheeling.

    Waiting for a dummy like me to post how he jacked up his frame? Yah man I had a meeting with a tree while off roading. You mean 40 in tires?

    So I came to a frame shop and they basically said I have to get a new frame. My truck still drives good though, I was thinking about maybe putting some small spacers on the back wheels to stick them out a bit more to hide the front wheels. Anyone ever heard of that?

    How are you able to get it to drive straight with a big tweak in the frame like that? I would think the pull would be crazy or it would dog track while going down the road.

    Well I had to replace the steering rack and piñon and got a major alignment done, it actually drives pretty good. Slight pull to the left tho

    I'm surprised with a bend like that, that the steering rack and stuff bolts in normally must less they're able to align it to drive straight. Crazy

    Honestly, I would park that fella between two trees and use a pull-back ram and some chains and see about pulling it myself. If you can visually see that it is pretty close to straight, it will likely be within alignment specs. If you want to get it "near perfect" build yourself a tram gauge and find the specs online, but even with this you won't have perfect measurements. They will only be as precise as your tool and accurate as your ability to get the gauge to the measuring points. Just pull it until it's right. Doesn't mean it's as good as new though. You would want to mention that to any future owners. I'm pretty floored that a shop told you to get a new frame over that. Either try a different shop, or pull that out yourself. I'm assuming that the real reason they think you need a new frame is because the rest of the frame isn't perfect either. I could be wrong, but this looks very repairable.

    Has anyone ever put wheel spacers only on their rear wheels? I was thinking about doing that for now just to conceal the front wheels and how they are a bit offset from the back.
