Yes, knee deep in it. I procured a set of the modified vvti solenoids to confirm fitment and functionality. I believe @12TRDTacoma will be the guinea pig.

Because this product is still unknown/unproven amongst our small group, I'm leaning toward qualifying/validating it first before promoting a GB.

But the test set was paid for yesterday. Shipment from Taiwan to CA should hopefully take 10-14 days...BUT, one caveat....Taiwan is dealing with a covid outbreak as we speak. Delays could occur.

Pricing for a set of these modified vvti solenoids should be cheaper than the stock replacements. We will hopefully be looking at sub $300/shipped if all goes well.

More details once product is in hand....and then in truck.

Oh that's great! I'd def take two sets at that price. We need two for a full set, right, intake and Exhaust sides?

Actually, what I'm calling one set is 1x IN solenoid and 1x EX solenoid. 1 set = 2x solenoids.

Quick dumb question isn’t our exhaust side ran off the timing gear and our intake side VVT for a Tacoma 4.0? Therefore needing a pair for only the intake cams. Maybe I’m miss understanding something.

You both have been added good sirs!

I actually am not fully aware as to how the exhaust side works to be honest despite having been invested deeply into this engine. When and if I find out I'll let you know.

Makes sense you'd only need one pair for the intake side since the exhaust side uses the cam gears like the ones Mightytacoman sells

The exhaust side rides off the intake via a chain. there is no vvti on the exhaust on this single vvti 1gr

As far as I can tell the ECU wouldn’t know the exhaust side is set mechanically with a 3* retard cam gear. Wouldn’t it just read air flow and adjust the intake and fuel. As far as I can tell the VVT is like a 3 position “Switch” advanced, neutral and retard for the intake cam and exhaust cam just follows it via the chain and 3* retard is the sweet spot for it to follow. Just my layman interpretation. Maybe some could enlighten me if I’m miss understanding. 2F0F5E37-C20B-447F-9331-10D9C3BF8DCF.jpg
