After commuting to work for 2 days. I am liking the ratios of the RC62F. Under 50 mph I'm mostly using 3rd. about 45 mph the rpms are about 2500. The RC is so much smoother and nicer shifting, WOW! :dancingbacon: Verdict is still out on the AWD. @BassAckwards would like so input about your vehicle that has it. Noise, vibrations, anything different. It lets you know your alignment is not as good as your thought.
It almost feels like torque steer. It feels heavier on slow/sweeping turns, you can feel the system want to pull the wheels back to the straight ahead position. On steeper turn or that require more turning angle it seems fine and not to much heavier than OE. Next paycheck I'll get an alignment and see how that helps.
Now my truck has earned the name Frankenstein's monster.

That RC62F sounds like the bees knees! Glad your swap worked out well

As far as vibrations, noise, etc, i havent noticed anything different, but ill be honest if it was making noise i likely wouldnt hear it as my truck is stupid loud. I also havent noticed any difference in the steering, but my truck has always felt like it's had heavier steering than in my other taco so maybe that's why. I always just chocked it up to it being a newer vehicle with way less miles, but it was doing the same thing with my auto fj case in there as well. Also my alignment is bang on so that could be part of the issue too with what you're feeling in the steering feedback. I could see how having an alignment that needs some fine tuning could make it do some weird stuff. That's probably where i'd start if i were you. I will drive it some more this weekend though and see if i notice anything that you mentioned on the curves/long sweeping turns, but it hasnt stood out to me up to this point.

So I don't think it has been clearly addressed yet as to what combination of clutch parts is needed to achieve a traditional style clutch with this swap. I have my rc62f now with the throwout bearing and fork, as well as a 2nd gen clutch kit for the 1GR-FE. The rc62f throwout bearing does not engage on the 1gr pressure plate, it is too small and does not touch any of the fingers(see picture). The ra60f throwout bearing obviously does work on the pressure plate, but will not slide on the fork for the rc62f. They are also different in the depth of the "spacer" on the bearing. I took pictures and measurements to help add to the general information on this swap, but does anyone know the right combination to get it to work? Is a 3rd gen pressure plate the answer? will it bolt to the flywheel?

rc62f where it goes on the fork

ra60f where it goes on the fork

    difference in bearing height

    rc62f pressure plate side

    ra60f pressure plate side

ra60f bearing on 1GR pressure plate

@ster56 You will need the Third gen pressure plate with the third gen release bearing. It will work with the second gen flywheel and friction disk. That is what I have on my set up. I thought that was discussed in here when I went through the same thing?

The 2GRFKS pressure plate has a little more clamp over the 1GRFE. 1865 lbs vs 1787 lbs. There's also a 2090 lb unit from some of the diesel apps, but the flywheel step needs to be verified.

oh man, I have never read a thread this big before, and with such focus.. My RA on the '15 just locked up post a long drive and was looking at other options than buying an OE trans new. Used units are too old (05-08) but some RCs are available. Thanks for the great detail in the write up!
My only Snag is shortening the rear Driveshaft, we don't have anyone that does that here, so maybe have it done in the States and pay extra to have it shipped over.... Thanks again OP!

    Questions:

If I use the original hydraulics from the RC, do I still use the friction disk & flywheel from the 2nd gen, but pressure plate and throw-out from the 3rd Gen? or the Tilton way is the only way for proper install? thanks

You will use the 2nd gen flywheel and friction disk. The parts from the 3rd gen will be the pressure plate, release bearing, release fork, release cylinder / ( slave cylinder) and it will work. This is what I am running. How ever you want to run the hydraulic line is on you. I ran a new braided cable from the firewall to the slave. I did have to have a few adapters.
