Rev Up Between Shifts on 6spd?

Hey guys,

I have had my 09 X-Runner for about a month now, 1500 miles. I have noticed since day one, when up shifting, mainly between 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, and 5-6, when I push in the clutch, the engine actually revs up instead of dropping the RPMs. It doesnt do it between 1-2.

I have heard that its an emissions thing, and also heard its part of the drive-by-wire setup. Can anyone confirm that this happens on all V6's with the 6 speed tranny, and does it ever go away in time? Its a bit annoying

VERY annoying but normal for the 6spd... Unfortunately it does not go away with time you just have to change your shifting habits to get used to it.

they all do, mine included I was told it was emissions thing, they rev up to burn the extra gas in the combustion chamber.

 

My 4cyl 5spd does this also, mainly between 4th to 5th.

 

My 09 DC 4x4 TRD does it as well. I hardly notice it after 2-3.

For those of you that said you have to change the way you drive to counter it, what are you doing? Do you guys let off the gas further before pushing the clutch? I have tried to do that, but its hard to change a 13 year habit

Mine does the same thing, at first it was very annoying but now I'm used to it. You just have to shift a bit slower, unfortunately...

 

It's countering your slow shifting. This way, whenever you upshift slowly you're still in the powerband

 

I have noticed revmatching when upshifting is really easy because of this.

 

I turn my radio up.

 

it was really annoying to me when i got the truck but i dont think it does it anymore. i do notice i does it for a little while after disconnecting the battery though so my guess is that its a computer controlled deal and it 'learns' your shifting habbits. if you learn to shift a little differently and gain some experience with the truck then you wont even notice it.

 

Greg; I shift it just like I have shifted since 81, let off gas, depress clutch, shift and let her out kinda slow to lessen the feel of the shift and hit the accelerator softly.
