I've learned to NOT try to accelerate with the Tacoma. So I take it easy letting it get up to speed,
challenge is once up to speed, and coasting to a stop takes longer. Hilly roads, hence need brakes at stoplights!

The biggest thing I like about the phone app. How much gas is left, and what distance to empty.

What section did you go into for the drive pulse in the app? I'd like to see if there's any hard braking or cornering events on mine. (21 SR5 DCLB)

is this 2021 feature? Mine 2020 doesn't have it, maybe because it's a manual transmission so they disabled remote start and all those features

There was a sticker on my 2020 about having to contact Toyota to opt out of their monitoring. You loose all remote services if you do. And do you really think they just turn off data collection and walk away?

Home screen (I posted it, shows odometer and distance to empty) just scroll down to see last location, recent trips, Drive Pulse. The Scorecard comes up on Drive Pulse. My best is 100 (little traffic, middle of the day, take it easy). The worst was down into the 60s.

I have a 21 OR with the toyota app. You can opt out of sending info over the app in the settings. Gets rid of the harsh turn, acceleration, braking, last parked location etc from the app if you do opt out.

Toyota app isn't bad, nice that it reminds me if I forgot to lock the doors and shows me how much gas I have left. Remote start from anywhere is nifty but i personally dont use it as much.

The App is interesting where/how it picks up harsh braking/cornering. I suspect the same G force sensor is also used for
    airbag deployment hence collected data.

On this one, heading home at 5:00 PM. Hence it shows the location of harsh cornering (yep, the flow of traffic at 5 PM!)

All of the modern Toyotas I've worked on have very integrated communication modules. I have no doubt they can read whatever they want from your vehicle.

The Toyota app on my phone doesn't show me that. Here is the sceenshot of my homepage. When I scroll through to the bottom of the page, there is no pulse.

Nope, they'll know. There is a check engine light code specifically for mismatched sensor IDs. There's a delete kit but it's not smog compliant.

Just went into the app and refused consent from safety and insurance tracking. I don’t care about the tracking, just the service required bs solicitation gets annoying.

I forget, but I think I had to "opt-in" for this to come up. I was playing with the Toyota App trying to get the remote start to work. At first, it didn't, so I opted in for it to work.

From the home screen, as I swipe up I see
    Last Parked Location
    Recent Trip
    Drive Pulse

    Then I see
    Roadside Assistance

This is one reason that I don't use their built in nav system. The other being that it sucks.

Did "Kim" also mention that Google is paying $192.00/hour?

This setup works for me. Map updates from Garmin are free and this unit displays what streets are coming up, not something the Toyota one does.

Yes. You and your new Toyota are being tracked. Not by a person, but by computers analyzing data. If you don’t like it, toss your cell phone out the window.
