I think there is already a 7K rebate until the manufacturer gets to a certain number of vehicles sold then it goes away. I think Tesla rebates are already gone

If toyota built a EV Tacoma with a 350-400 mile range, with the same or better towing and payload and 4x4 at a price comparable to what they are now (like Ford did) I would trade mine this afternoon.

Ford priced the F-150 Lightning Commercial minimum $10k over a base F-150. So, not comparable.

I would buy a EV Tacoma I have now with a 10K premium over what I paid with comparable trim package. The Lighting XLT is pretty close to the gas XLT at 52K especially when looking at real world trucks on the lot that most people buy.

I think that is pre- tax rebate so that narrows the price to a 3K difference or somewhere near there.

That is what the XLT trim package starts at.

So about a 12K difference from Gas with a 7-7500 tax rebate brings it pretty close and I would say the lighting may have more features apples to apples than the Gas XLT.

Is that XLT price in the pic a crew cab 4x4...all the lightings are crew cab 4x4's so the price comparison has to start there.

I guess you’re right they are the same price.

You mean versus the standard 230 mile pack? Rivian charges $10k for the upgrade to their “Max Pack” which increases range from 300 to 400 miles, so I’d guess $7-10k for Ford’s upgrade.

They aren't exact, but I think Ford did a good job at getting it close enough to make sense for some people. I hope that trickles down to other car makers. I drove 20K last year in mine, if you average 17mpg and 2.50 a gallon thats close to 3K that I would not have to spend if the truck was EV. Now I know there is a cost for power etc, but if the entry price to the technology is reasonable, it can start to make sense dollar for dollar.

A lot of states have rebates too. In California a 2500. Plus an additional 1500 available currently.

The Cybertruck reliability is unknown. I'd still buy one over a Ford Lightning. Cheaper, longer range, won't rust, 35's standard, I just wish it looked better.

Toyota seems to be concentrating on hybrids and plugin hybrids. They are using their proven 2.5 L synergy drive in all suvs up to the Highlander. Stands to reason they would put this in the Taco before introducing an all electric version. Toyotas hybrid systems are generally about $1500 more than comparably equipped ICE only versions and payback is around four years depending on mileage driven. Expect there will be one in the near future.

$85k before incentives etc. with the Max pack, still cheaper than the Platinum Lightning. To me the RIVIAN is still the better deal overall. Plus 4 motors for off roading and over landing, higher towing capacity, 400+ miles tow to charge and a lot more.

I do think they will go this route first, it makes sense, I think we will see a hybrid option on the new Tundra and also on the next Gen Tacoma. They did do a EV Rav 4 this year that is interesting and fast, since it is a high volume mover, I would think that they will start to look at the Tacoma/Tundra Ev sooner than later. After the Rav4 they will probably do the Sienna and then maybe the bigger vehicles....Pure guess on my part but it would make sense. They did announce that they will introduce 15 EV's by 2025...

This Ford Lightning - for what it is the price isn't sky-high. When production really takes off I'd expect the price to drop
quite a bit. Ford is betting the house on this thing and I suspect they have the brightest ( no pun intended ) minds working
    on this thing.

Look for Chevy and Dodge and Toyota to 'up' their E-Vehicle game... if they could make the 'bodies' of these things act like
    solar panels the game-on...

Yeh hybrid on the trucks before EV but only for a few years. Toyota already announced the 2022 Sienna Woodland Edition hybrid. with Electric AWD. Toyota currently has the most EV vehicles on the road on the planet. They know EV's way better than Ford, Tesla and RIVIAN

Not sky high but up there in price for it's range when less expensive higher range trucks are imminent. The Hummer EV is sky high
