Sliding rear window....what's the point?

This is the first truck i have owned and i am just wondering what the point of the sliding rear window is. I just don't see a use or need. Does anyone us it?

 

I used it for my dogs to go from the bed to the cab. I couldnt even physically fit through it. My sons like to crawl through it as well.

 

I use it on warm summer days. Windows and the rear slider really gets the air movin through. My neighbor had a tundra with rear power slider, whole thing went down, that was sick!

 

I keep mine cracked open in the summer when I'm cruising around.

 

I use it to talk to my dogs when they are in the bed.

 

Take a ride with your front 2 windows open, lots of wind buffeting and turbulence in the cab...slide that window open and most of the turbulence is gone. Also good for fresh air when you don't want a large window open, like when it's raining or your gf just did her hair and is bitching about the wind but you want air.

Did I mention ease of access to the cooler stored in the bed?

My dogs like to talk to me through it too...

Lots of practical reasons.

 

This past summer and fall I was leaving it open when parked to keep interior cool,its to small of an opening for any one to reach in, and it lets in a nice breeze when driving thats different than having the back windows open, nice when driving up the coast.

access cab ftw! Got no problems reaching mine while driving. Being over 6 foot probably helps, but still. Access cab = win!

 

I was thinking about doing a rear sliding window conversion on my 04 tacoma. My buddy had a TRD tacoma witha rear sliding window, he said he has had people open that window from the outside and stole some of his crap.

 

It comes in handy for hauling long pieces of lumber that would stick too far out of the bed. For example a 2x4x12.
