Both the RC N3 and the Pro Comp ES9000 are twin-tube shocks, so their piston size are probably the same or smaller than the Bilstein's. The RC N3 advertises a 54mm body with just a 35mm piston, for example.

The RC N3 may be better for durability just because it has the largest diameter shaft.

Without knowing specific engineering details of the internals, etc... IDK if its that cut and dry regarding durability.

Just some back of the beer case flap analysis on durability (based on this image alone), I am by no means a suspension guru. I feel the Mono IFP may be better overall thermally giving it the edge, but again there is probably quite a range of quality and that will be the ultimate predictor.

    Monotube:
    Pros
    - less overall seal pressures with larger dia piston
    - better piston seal and surface cooling as there is only one layer of material to the outside world.
    Cons
    - potentially less surface area for oil cooling
    - potentially more oil volume (assuming equal OD as twin tube)

    Twin Tube:
    Pros
    - potentially more surface area for cooling
    - tunability from base valve
    Cons
    - cooling efficiency to internal chamber oil decreased by additional conduction resistance oil conduction and aeration from no IFP
    - higher internal piston seal pressures (depending on seal design higher pressure increases o-ring squeeze (may be completely mitigated with proper design of backing rings) which increases friction)
    - less oil cooling at rod side seal

The twin-tube design is horrible for cooling, as the nitrogen between the outer- and inner tube acts as an insulator for the oil in the inner tube. That's why all the performance shocks from Bilstein, Fox, King, Icon, ADS, Elka, Radflo, Sway-A-Way... are monotube. However, for the terrain in our region (slow rock crawling) you just need travel and sturdy mechanical construction.

Is that why you're doing the FJ case conversion? :p

I have this thing for rally style driving. It's slightly more economical to drive at 13L/100km vs. 14L/100km with my truck :anonymous:

FJ T-case conversion, is to eliminate all the electrical weak points in the 4x4 system on our trucks. I dont want to be somewhere and it fail on me, so I removed it all.

My truck is the only vehicle I am allowed to abuse, my wife's CR-V is off limits.

How soon can step one actually come

    "
    Step one

To enter this step, Ontario must wait at least two weeks after 60 per cent of adults have received one dose of the vaccine.

According to Health Minister Christine Elliott, Ontario has reached 58 per cent to date.

"It is possible we could reach the level of getting to stage one before June 14," Elliott said. "We are just giving that as an approximate date right now."

The government said step one will focus on resuming outdoor activities with smaller crowds and where the risk of transmission is lower.

Non-essential retail stores will be allowed to reopen with 15 per cent capacity.

Outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people will be allowed. Outdoor dining, with up to four people per table, will also be allowed to resume.

The first step will also allow restrictions to lift on camps, campgrounds and provincial parks, as well as outdoor pools and splash pads."
