Dude, Williamsburg is so five years ago. Red Hook almost isn’t cool anymore. Don’t be anachronistic.

Why not run it at even lower current off 480V or whatever the system voltage is? 12V, 24V, or even 48V cabling is way oversized because of the ridiculous currents they have to pass. In some cases hydraulics might still be preferred just using the ev to run the pump but by comparison hydraulics are prone to failure and leaks.

It is if you factor in the gas you won’t be using.

Some will, some won’t. It’s an entirely new set of habits that some will hate when they forget and can’t just fill’ er up. While others will revel in never waiting at a gas station while trying to make their schedule.

Plenty of people forget to get gas...
I imagine having a solar panel roof would help those forgetful types.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
    Maybe...
I saw stuff from a major auto company in 99-00 college presentations and even a prototype in the research center that were supposedly only 10 years away from market with their full electric. Saw a new video from same company last week still showing same idea and saying 5 years away now. LOL.

I've have the current generation and prior generation F150s supplied to me as a company vehicle. I know this will make some people get sore in the taint, but both have been stupid reliable vs. my 3rd gen Tacoma. It seems people think electric motors are a new idea that was recently invented by Tesla.

IMO all the naysayers at this point are Tesla bulls that are afraid. They will never admit that Tesla is now selling brown bananas and the truth hurts.

That brings up a good point. Why does Tesla use a 12v battery to power the accessories and not just the regular power rain Li Ion battery? All the hybrids are apparently going 48v “mild hybrid” to compensate for the extra electrics in the cars and electrically power things like the AC instead of with pulley power. It also makes the ICE start-stop more seamless and apparently efficient. Any EEs on here know why it makes more sense for Tesla to stick with the 12v auxiliary battery?

No, they aren’t but installing solar and power wall are part of the solution to both that cost and relieving demand on the grid which is a major factor for incentivizing both the vehicle and solar systems in the form of rebates or tax incentives. So that investment cost is inflated. I spend more than $10k on gas in 5 years. I keep my trucks for 15. Solar, charger, & storage for me would be one time investments. Who knows what will happen in the next 5-10 years but my guess would be that all the numbers will trend in favor of ev over ice substantially though ice will probably remain in the form of hydrogen fuel cells much longer than with fossil fuels. I’m not in any rush to buy anything right now but it’s as sure as death & taxes that the days Dino juice are numbered. If I had to put a number on it I’d say 2 decades, 3 at the outside. Technology has a nasty habit of accelerating beyond our expectations and this transition has a lot more to do with necessity than going from hay to oil did.
Lol, only if they remember to plug in so probably not. But then, we didn’t use to have to charge our phones either and even an absent minded doofus like me can learn that trick.

In the dooms day scenario that guy describes , with the "jerry cans" being able to refuel you further than an EV with a small solar panel , yes, for the first week that's right the gas will go further. but after your jerry cans are empty you would need to rely on a vast and extremely expensive distribution net work for gasoline fuel in order to fill up your "cans" again. Ironically the douche with the EV and some panels would be able to travel almost indefinitely (but slowly), never needing many many gallons of lubricant fluids or several thousand gallons of gasoline over the years. the hundreds of pounds of lithium would make you all set for life vs...oil drum worth of motor oil, tranny fluid, plus 10,000 pound's of gasoline over the life of the truck. 100s of lbs of lithium vs 10,000+ lbs of gasoline. I don't understand. Does the argument assume gasoline and all the efforts needed to bring it to my local gas station not count ? humm . what do you supposed is easier to move across the country ? alternating current in wires or 18 wheelers , pipelines and the like hauling billions of pounds of petro?

Who the fuck is talking about a “doomsday scenario”? I’m talking about going out for a weekend of wheeling and seeing a potential new buddy stuck in the snow/sand/etc. If things go “doomsday” the last thing I’m going to be doing is giving a shit about having fun in a four wheel drive.

yes. We spent 6k on gas last year. my solar was 15k for it all set and installed. cost seems fair considering the high price of gasoline. so with the EV i will pay off the panels in less time than i thought ? i guess....

Also this huge demand on the grind from EVs is also exaggerated. Is it assuming ever EV will go on daily road trips and exhaust the whole battery every day?! No most of the people will just need to recharge a battery for 15-30 miles of range per day. that's the equivalent of running your AC for a few hours in terms of power and total energy used in a net day right?

Oh what ? my bad. ok that's an easy answer then:

cyber truck has a 220V outlet to charge up other douche friends EV to get them out. also you can drag them along and let their wheels "regeneratively" charge the battery (really it works)

    next question...
