Omg I found it! It was there. I thought the factory meant restore factory. Not more options. I’m an airhead. I just bought it a few weeks ago, I assume it’s the latest os. Hilex>Camry? I don’t have a hilex option

You should be fine with camry/xp. Hilux was the pickup name before Tacoma.

Yeah, I don't think it matters as long as you grab a Toyota product but that is just my opinion. I just chose Hilux because that is a truck vs the Camry or Rav4 I have seen guys picked. Don't be scared to check the various options that are there. I think there are more Toyota options when going through the Can Box Type. I think its RCZ? or something like that.

Yeah I went through them all, no hilex options. Honestly my only complaint with the canbus right now and its not a huge deal is my steering wheel controls are flopped. So down is skip. Also my doors lock when I put it into Drive, and I cant change that back to the speed option.

Prev/next should be in OCA, Reversal prev/next. I used Techstream for door lock. I've never tried through the HU.

Like DC4L mentioned it's in the OCA, Reverse Previous/Next = On.

For the door lock stuff I couldn't change it in the Head Unit eventhough it is in Car Info --> Setup. I had to use techstream for that. But I was able to change my door unlock press. It's like a delayed action. Press the check mark and wait. If it turns green it worked, if not then it won't let you change it in head unit.

As for the Hilux option, this is what mine looks like:

Got my joying installed (Android 10 version), but Im not getting any FM signals. Was there supposed to be an additional adapter that I may have missed? The only adapters (cables) I have leftover are the GPS (will be using the factory one...just waiting for the adapter), USB extension and 4G antennas.

IIRC, the FM and XM connectors are very similar, you may have swapped them.

Looks like I missed the connector on accident. Now everything is working. Thank you!

OK. After about a month of use, I can say that I am enjoying this head unit. I'm a tinkerer though, so I kind of enjoy the excitement of sorting these things out.. So...here's my update to the previous post. I would definitely recommend this purchase to anyone looking for Apple Car Play/Android Auto.

    1. The non-AA (android Auto) UI is hideous. I realize that this is largely subjective, but it's ugly. Is there a launcher that mimics Android Auto? The icons and such..
I found a wallpaper that isn't so obviously not stock...This isn't as much an issue for me now. Maybe I just got used to it, but honestly, I use AA 95% of the time.
    2. I've never used AA before now so I could be missing something, but as of now, I don't think I can listen to AM/FM radio while also using AA
Still a thing, but not a big thing. I just use iHeartRadio if I want to listen to local radio (clear channel anyways)
    3. AA doesn't automatically connect when plugged into my phone. (very minor inconvenience)
I was in my mother in laws car this weekend who has AA integrated to her vehicle from the factory. It works the same way..minor inconvenience, but IIWII.
    4. The 3 capacitive buttons are not always illuminated like the stock ones. They only come on with the headlights. Not a problem, just an oddity.
Still not a problem, but still a thing. I'm over it.
    5. Google Maps doesn't go into "night mode" when the headlights are on. Maybe there is a setting for this? My settings on my Google Account show my Map display color scheme as "Automatic".
This is my biggest complaint! I can force it into either mode, but it will not adjust automatically. I plugged in my wifes iPhone and it works to perfection. It's not necessary a head unit thing, it could just be an Android thing. If this was working, I would be singing this Head units praises like a canary.
    6. Back up camera sucks now.
Still sucks. Definitely worse than stock. The way it distorts light is definitely not characteristic of the stock HU. Not sure what's causing this..

5.) My Google maps does not go into night mode based on Headlights, for instance when I drive into a tunnel (daily) it automatically switches to dark mode. Even with headlights off. Which I thought was strange, since I dont know how it detected that since I do not have auto lights.
6.) Agreed, wonder if there is a simple solution that does not need rewiring but just cutting off the old camera and soldering on a new one

Backup camera always sucked, its just on a better screen.

Remember how VCR tapes looked just fine on your tv long ago? try watching a VCR tape on a HDTV... it will look even worse. (this may not be a good comparison depending on how old you are)

The only way to make it better is to get a better camera, but really do you need HD rear camera? do you need to be able to count each merit badge on the girl scout your backing over? All the back up camera is there to do is give you a idea of whats behind you.

Oh and the issue with the light glare can be fixed by getting the "license plate off in reverse" harness.

Oh no I fully understand. It was like 240p resolution screen and camera. So yeah its ppi is terrible now. No, not always. But when backing into my garages which is only 6 inches longer than my truck. Its hard to see how close I am to my wall at night because the lights are so damn bright at night. But I do not want them off, I guess a HDR camera is needed.

How flush does it fit to the dash trim/how far does it extend "out"?

Understood. I'm not as concerned with the quality, but when there are streetlights or the sun is behind me, my camera is almost un-usable. This was definitely not the case before. I understand that doesn't make sense, because the screen is receiving it's feed from the same camera. I get it, but there is most definitely a difference other than pixels.

I can't get to dark mode consistently with any method. I've had it go to dark mode by itself at random times, but I could never replicate the cause.

It's right up to the dash. There's very little gap if any. I just drilled holes in the factory brackets to get it to fit as close as possible. Works great!

Has anyone tried plugging a SIM card in their joying? If so, which network? Considering getting something like mint mobile or tello
