yea, that's pretty cool. At one point when I was dating this chick who was into making jewlery i thought about getting into tumbling and cutting rocks/gems...

i've got a bunch of rocks from around the world...some of it is rock core, some of it's random stuff i've picked up hiking...i usually try to grab a cool one from places i've been.

geology was a fine choice for a profession. it's been a pretty fun ride to date.

 

My GF makes jewelry out of them for her side business.

My first choice in college was Geology, but I didn't want to work in an oilfield for 30 years (that's who was hiring at the time). I went through most of the minor program, did a bunch of the lab classes and such, but never ended up with a paper that said I did geology stuff.

If I get the time and money, I'll go back for a masters and do it just for fun.
