OK... Looking for some opinions. Gonna finally be piecing together a new rear bumper for MY truck (gotta get it done before it starts snowing) but am torn as to what style tire carrier to put on it. Should I do a vertical carrier and keep the tailgate or do a laid over prerunner style like I had before???

    Discuss.... :D

plus I'm not a fan of the increased cog although it would be unique on a Taco. If you don't need the bedspace I'm a fan of the angled "prerunner" style and I'd think the rear visibility would be slightly better.

I like that vertical carrier. It's nice to keep the bed completely usable.

Nothing cool or exciting, haha. I wanna turn it into a trailer for camping, I liked using the truck tent but didn't like putting it up and down to go anywhere. So if I can find a 05+ bedside, I can make up a litttle trailer to mount it on, throw some leveling jacks on it and have a different set-up. It wont cost me me anything to make the trailer, only thing I would need to buy would be a bed side.

Would be cool to have a complete bedside with tailgate and tail lights color matched swb and throw some black wheels on it to go camping, haha.

Personality I am fine with throwing a tent on the ground but my gf loved the tent and being up off the ground..

I been checking local junk yards for totaled tacomas but most have been hit in the bed.

Yeah, you dont see to many bedside trailers anymore, esp ones from a 05+ truck, haha.

Depending on what size bedside I find I may sell the tent I have now and get the one for a 6ft bed. I would much rather use a 6ft bed, but i will take what ever comes first.

Wow.... Sad how few updates this gets now days.

Anyways, did some work to the truck through the holidays, just getting around to posting the few pictures I took.

I've been preparing to add a dual band radio for awhile now, figured I would go ahead and get a few things ready for it. Also I've constantly had trouble hearing people on the CB due to the speaker not being loud enough for my deaf ears so I solved that problem as well.

Step one, remove headliner and mount new antennas.
    100_0747_6b29ad5cc54cd94f889369735e778aa96b0f5a5e.jpg

    100_0748_b854d83eed4d430794a437eda6b76fca90c7a391.jpg

Step two, sound deaden while your up there. (Now my entire cab is sound deadened!)
    100_0749_19b87a261bca815b0ea4daf8336bf7cd7f6b7619.jpg

Step three, mount new external speakers for CB and dual band radio.
    100_0752_19b569744ea903c61b07fea825d4d97fcb7370bf.jpg

I'm still working on the radio mount but it will be a pretty sweet setup when it's done.

Yea it turned out perfect. I just needed them close to my head so I could actually hear them over all the other noise. Now 1/4 volume is like all you need.
