yeah, had to spend some of those sweet sweet credits, knowing full well i'd have to do 04B14 too, but time is money!!! he's happy AF, (and since he's out of warranty it's not likely the dealer will TSB him and wipe the tune), but yeah, I just strive for improvement every day. Kai Zen!!!

Geez I should start a tune apparently it’s the latest gimmick. There are only so many tunes for these trucks and the only real advantage I’ve seen is deleting the multiple torque tables.

Try mine, or yeah, feel free to spend 7 months creating your own. PM me if you want to test it. If not, I'm sure there's some sweet Reddit memes you can find to troll instead?

I'm looking forward to this. I'm assuming you're using the same truck, just flashing each tune before it gets on the dyno?
I'm a KDMax guy through and through but competition is a good thing and I certainly wish you well in the Powerthirst endeavor!

Edit: If you like I will volunteer my truck for the KDMax run cuz I'm right down I35 from you. Don't know if that would be helpful or more of a hassle, or skew the final results due to being a different truck but:

First off, hell yeah, appreciate the offer, but in order to make this a true experiment, the plan is to run my truck multiple times on the various tune files to get accurate data. Since you're a central TX homie, I'd love to meet up and hit some trails if you're into getting your truck dirty as well! I hit Hidden Falls once a month on a pre-determined sunday!!

Gotcha - makes proper sense to use the same truck for accuracy.

I have never been to Hidden Falls - one of those, 'I'll go soon things' - for almost 4 years now... Definitely don't mind putting the truck in the dirt!
So, I'm definitely down for that - shoot me a PM when you're going - sometime this summer - be nice to go with a dude who knows the park already

Or have more insight than you think.

I’ve had a few different tunes now to include OV and several members of the forum and I’ll be frank, none of them were really all that and they were all pretty much the same. I’m just glad I didn’t have to pay for any of it.

Not poking personally at you but there are literally dozens upon dozens of tunes and most of them aren’t very good or provide little value over stock.

Good luck with yours though, anyone who spends 7 months on a tune probably just likes tuning. On that I would recommend using hours for your labor instead of months, for all anyone knows you spent 2 hours on it in that 7 months or 500 hours.

No. I'm confident in the amount of insight you have, your post history is telling of that. You are good at casting doubt without support for your views, though. I'm sure you get a lot of support from the equally ignorant.

Hey guys, just want to throw it out there... I recieved Brodys POWERTHIRST tune a couple weeks ago when my family took a trip over to Austin.

First off... Brody is a hell of a cool guy. Down to earth, respectful, as well as knowledgeable about our trucks. Not to mention, customer oriented. The guy responds quickly to your messages if you have any questions or issues.

2nd... The POWERTHIRST tune rocks! My mpg improved. My truck feels way more responsive during launches. As well as the shifting problem we're eliminated. Especially while pulling my travel trailor.

Bottom line... I'd highly recommend his tune. It's a super good price with amazing results.

Thanks for the kind words! I always joke at work (Sales Manager at a big Toyota store) that they pay me to be there to sell Camrys and Corollas, since they know I'd show up and sell our trucks for free. lol. I have a blast chatting with truck customers, so the Tacoma tuning is the most fun side gig I could ask for. Let me know if you ever need anything!

Well, you did nail it there... I def just love tuning. My background is mech/systems/aero engineering, and I spent years in the software industry (mobile gaming), and I'm a huge Tacoma guy, so tuning is a perfect intersection of my passions. As for the hours spent... jesus, it hurts to think about, but I'd say somewhere around 400-500 hours over those 7 months, since it was probably average 3 hours per day. My wife had a planned hospital stay for a few months, which is when I got started tuning, since it was either find a productive hobby or play Rocket League every night.

Had some fun tuning yesterday! Truck on the right drove from Spring TX (about 150 miles) to get PowerThirst. Left is the Tundra testing out OVTune's Tundra tune, and Baldy in the middle is getting a feel for PowerThirst before his truck does some Dyno runs on Wednesday!

So, I def didn't get as much data as I'd liked... first time doing Dyno runs in my life, so I had a lot to learn. First off, I had to tweak both my tune and the stock tune for GearLock, since the first run downshifted to 3rd and the data was garbage. Since the other tunes weren't GL versions (and I don't think Mat makes a GL version for OVTune), I couldn't run those, but still, got some runs comparing mine to stock. All-in-all though, I got 20HP over stock on the high end, running reg gas. Also had extra 20 ft-lbs of torque on the low end, and about 10 on the high end. Def need to work on the AFR to get it dialed at WOT, but Powerthirst definitely was WAY closer to optimal compared to stock. Stock shoots from WAY too lean to WAY too rich almost immediately.

If you can add GL to your tune and stock, you can add it to OV2.0.

Post dyno chart. Very interested to see these low end gains.
