Brightest LED bulbs

Bought some shitty LEDs for my headlights on my 19 tacoma online, they lasted about a year. I’m looking for some Nice bright White LEDs. What do you guys recommend?

 

Not LEDs. We have several threads on why HIDs are better in projectors.

I ran Philips 12953BWX2 XtremeUltinon LED in my 07 and they were awesome. They most likely make the size for the 2019.

i run the same lights in my low beams, never ordered the high beams, but they’re sufficient. I get flashed a lot, and my lights are aimed low, so I might take them back out

I never understood why people need lights so bright they can see into the future. Hell I think the swap over to LED street lights is obnoxious enough that there’s no point in even turning your headlights on to begin with.

 

It's the world we live in unfortunately, many (if not most) truly only care about their wants and needs.

 

It doesn’t help that auto makers install them factory and companies sell it as keeping you and your family safe. Personally I see it as just the opposite...and if I can’t see when your coming at me your definitely not going to.

 

When you live where there's no street lights and tons of animals running around, you wanna see all you can.

 

When 90% of your commute is long, dark highway, LEDs make a big difference. Especially if you actually research the proper bulb first.

 

The problem is people who don't bother to do any research and just buy the first things they see off of Amazon. I can tell you I've never once been flashed with my LEDs (except when I've forgotten to dim my brights). And before you say that it isn't a big deal in this day and age, consider that in my 2008 Canyon, which I traded in just last year, I got flashed all the time with my low beams in. The truck was bone stock and had the original, factory halogens.

 

Who’s to say I don’t! I have high beams that work fantastic

 

What gets me too is that the bright white light most people have is horrible in my opinion for snowy conditions..assuming it’s the same as the LED streetlights, and correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t get the heat off the bulb to keep the headlights from freezing over either.

Leds produce a lot of heat. The difference is in the proportion of light to heat so the same heat waste produces more light. The problem is a filament is much closer to the ideal point source so it can be that much more accurately focused and/or cut off. Led bulbs are arrays of leds with each individual led generating a beam aimed differently than the others. It’s simply not possible to retrofit an led bulb into an HID housing and not have it blinding oncoming traffic and wrecking their night adjusted vision for miles to come.

 

Correct, there are other viable options out there, not all are bad, I was referring to the folks that are blatantly blinding others with lights that clearly made for show. That's why I initially referred OP to the sticky that has actual research from someone who seems to know what he's talking about, much more than the guy selling LED headlights at the local flea market.

 

Not exactly. LED lights don't emit much heat at all. The drivers definitely do though. For this reason I tend to run halogens in the winter since LEDs won't really self clear snow and slush unless it is damn near freezing and not much below. As for the LED light itself, it is much easier to get that to closely mimic the position of the halogen filament than it is for an HID bulb to do the same since HIDs produce light from the gas inside, essentially making the entire bulb a filament. Thus, HIDs generally produce far more glare than appropriately spec'd LEDs.

 

This is accurate. The white light itself isn't the issue. That's actually great in the snow if appropriately aimed so as to not reflect back at you. However the light itself doesn't produce much heat and so it cannot self clear appropriately unless the temps are at or very near freezing. However, due to the background being white, I find halogens are adequate in the winter and replace my LEDs just after deer season.
