You bring the things you can’t make on the trail. It’s just going to be different parts to swap out. You learn how to do something new as necessary, that won’t change. Just a different bunch of idiot YouTube videos and blogs only with fewer things to break. The purely mechanical stuff will still just be wrenching. People will get stuck, some will lend a hand while others point vigorously, beers will be consumed, maybe under the shade of a solar batwing or just on a tail gate. The people and things that are truly important will still be there.

C'mon Shakerhood, this hurt me all over my pain doll.

This guy you linked us to writes like a 6th grader, cites no studies and offers no resources, and...(check notes)...um...what's his background again? The "three-minute read" article includes this gem of a sequence:

I produced an innovation forum one time on clean energy. We had presentations independently prepared by professionals discussing nuclear, solar, biomass, and wind energy. The forum’s sponsor was a specialty chemical company seeking ways to develop products to support clean energy. When the forum was over, the sponsor’s leader said to his surprise that his greatest take away from across these independent presentations was that the biggest opportunity was not energy production, but energy storage and distribution. Energy is produced somewhere at some time, and it is consumed somewhere else at another time.

Yeah, cool story bro. So...let me get this straight. Some guy named John Warner...on Medium...says he produced a forum for an unnamed chemical company (not an individual) where there were presentations from unnamed people. Cool. When all was said and done that sponsor, oops, it's a person after all even though I didn't say it that way previously, when that guy, when HE was done with our rad forum, he said "dude, there's opportunity in storing that energy." And then John Warner cuts to his panty-dropper line: "Energy is produced somewhere at some time, and it is consumed somewhere else at another time."

    YOU DON'T SAY.

Guys, if we're going to clutter up this lame thread with more out-of-thread experiences, can we offer up some that are worth reading? Like, peer-reviewed scholarship from reputable, on-topic journals? If I'm going to read fluff I'd rather rather read about that cool crate Emotor you can drop inside your rusty project car.

The only reason I used that guy was he wrote that story from what Elon Musk said about the US not having enough energy, I will be happy to delete it if it would make you feel better.

Just a wild ass guess but maybe it’s about keeping high voltage out of the passenger compartment.

Sounds like he was trying to de-emphasize production and consumption in order to highlight storage. A different style or approach might have been more effective on you and less so on others. Or he could be a boob and only well received by other boobs. Millions of us don’t care whether something is true, only whether we wish it to be so in which case references to bonafide research would be a hindrance.
I sometimes post links but I wonder how often they’re followed up on. Besides, just posting a link doesn’t guarantee it’s veracity, just that I found something that supported my post.
As far as seemingly promising ideas not getting to market I thought the was the rule and that successes are the exceptions. Not necessarily because of a bad idea or product but sometimes just a lack of investment capital, poor execution, or inadequate leadership. Rarely would any competition have to go to the extraordinary effort of buying it out in order to quash it but it’s still possible. With what’s at stake though some industrial mishaps might not turn out to be accidental. Bad press is a powerful lever. Good for movie fodder too.
Finished with fluff, no peer reviews required.

When electric vehicles become more popular and over taxed utilities become an issue then load sharing can be implemented by the utility provider. This is widely used in heavy industry to manage power generation upsets by shedding non essential loads for short periods of time. Can be implemented at low cost in any home with a wifi connection and a relay.

9/11 also happened shortly after that. Gas prices skyrocketed, making oil production even more lucrative.
    I'm sure that's unrelated.

Oops, I mean car roofs. Good point tho.

You mean to say an EV engineer picked the mind of a TW genius and came away with their idea that they had first.

With what the F150 Electric is offering, Toyota is seriously going to have their work cut out for them, whenever an electric Tacoma comes out. It had better be soon, and it had better be good.

Well the Tacoma isn't a full sized truck. The Tundra is it's competition.
