Im sure its a nice setup i just have no need for a LT setup and am in no financial area right now to spend that kind of money on my truck. TBH im happy with my setup now just want to beef everything up a little more that all.

You know how much extra your LCA skids hang down that's how much lower aftermarket LCAs hang they don't follow the same shape or lines as the OE and are much more straight from bushing to ball joint and quite a bit thicker. No way are they higher clearance. The one person I wheeled with that had them drug them worse than all of us on stock arms same rocks we cleared he drug.

They have the same tire size? Ive seen a direct comparison side by side and it was def more clearance. I cant find the link at the moment. Regardless though they are alot tougher than the stock arms in how thy are constructed. I saw someone dent the heck out of their stock one one time on the trail.

Sorry didn't mean to jack the thread. Resume regular programming lol

Yep same same. DK uses a shims to get clearance for their uniball thus dropping the arm at the outer pivot. The direct comparison I've seen is with MC. If gained ground clearance was a thing you'd think all these companies would be marketing it as an advantage. Get them in hand and see them in person you'd be surprised.

Harry, Can you share with us what mods you make to the stock lowers? I know you can add uniball inner pivots. Do you stick with the ball joint? What reinforcements do you add? Pics would be great as well. Thanks

I don't think he has ever reinforce the stock LCA. Several guys have they swap to the whiteline bushings weld plates to the bottom and sides, weld a wrap around the bushing sleeves and weld an additional plate to the bump plate.

I know he will or can install uniball's inplace of the bushings but somewhere I think it was mentioned there were other mods/reinforcements.

Yes I have done it and no I won’t do it again. It just takes way to much time to machine the parts by hand

Stock width aftermarket UCAs get you three things:

    1) Replaceable outer uniball instead of a pressed in ball joint which can maybe be replaced once, but rarely a second time.
    2) Ditch the inner sintered rubber bushing on the inner, and gain access to the full travel of your shock. Yes this matters, and yes you'll notice if you actually wheel.
    3) Much stronger than the cheap aftermarket LCAs you'll buy, and somewhat stronger than OEM.

Harry's right, if you're starting from scratch go LT. But if you're already bought in for good shocks, UCAs, wheels, etc. just by Dirt King LCAs; paired with the JD Fab LCA bracket, and go wheeling.

So I'm a bit confused. I thought the LCA mount will allow the use of any UCA. But reading the GB thread, it says not to use another brand's aftermarket UCA. I have TC uppers and lowers stock width. Is this going to cause me issues?

You can still use your UCA. What they were saying, is by doing so you’re sacrificing the tire clearance benefits off the firewall. So if your goal is to stay off the firewall with bigger tires, you would want to get the JD upper arm that doesn’t have so much caster built into them. You use the LCA pockets to gain caster instead.

Your UCAs will work, just won’t let you to best utilize the lca kit to work to its FULL potential.

I’m glad someone brought this up since I’m planning to run the same thing. TC stock length uppers and lowers.

right now I’m running max caster to move the wheel off the firewall, 5.6°. So with the kit it moves the wheel forward and since the UCA have built caster it will cancel out some of that forward movement? Am I understanding that correctly?
