How'd you mount the recovery boards? I'm assuming this prohibits the topper from being folded?

Haha he found a comfortable distance away later to nap (and toot freely as needed)

Kalkaska area in Michigan. not the prettiest area or season but sure beats being at work!

I made some aluminum brackets, I don't plan on folding the topper when i have the maxtrax mounted so I have no idea on whether or not the topper can fold

I’d total pay for a set of those “scrap” brackets if you decide to make any more. I dig your build and setup. Great work!

Thanks, this is just a temporary setup until I build a rear bumper. I'll list them for sale once the hilift and maxtrax have a home on the bumper

    That freakin sucks!

Check with Softopper them selves for material. Thinking a direct phone call..

A guy in here awhile back bought some from them and made an add on skirt for when he had the tailgate down.

Anyone have any tips for cleaning the inside fabric? It seems to have some discoloration that is maybe mold? I'm thinking probably from the wet winters we have here.

another weekend, another softopper camping trip!
rained all night and the straps dripped water and the front bed header/side area poured some water but since i have the bed mat wasnt a huge issue.
I'll be seam sealing again (more) and then looking into that header/side area to find a good water stop method.
cut down broomsticks worked great as a quick last minute item i made/packed to keep the rear 'hatch' open for airflow with a usb fan for extra breeze.
we drape a bug net over the entire soft topper to keep the bugs out and that worked great too.
took someone else's idea of a strap on the inside of the tailgate to help close it and wow that sure makes it easier. great freebie mod

Does anybody camp in their Short Bed Softoppers? or is it just not enough room. I can see myself being able to get comfy in there if i was alone, but with the wife next to me im not so sure we would. I am 5' 8" and she is shorter both athletic builds

There's a guy in this thread who came up with a pretty good idea. He fashioned a cover from the same material the softopper is made from so he could sleep in the back of his short bed. From what I gather it turned out pretty good!
