Just fyi poly bushings like a silicone based PTFE grease like what Daystar or Energy suspension provide with their bushing kits. Harbor Freight sells little tubes of SuberLube which is similar.

For the ball joints use a heavy duty lithium based grease

yup. Cracking boots. They are sending me a pair of the classic boots until the new ones come out. I put some moog on there but that’s just temporary.

Mine are coming in tomorrow. I need to get those garden hose washers first so I can install them this weekend

I was told the same thing, but all I received were the boots, no washers. At least they can be bought all over and aren't specialty, but still.

i may get something like this for the moog boots I have on it now. This looks better for that piece that’s pressed in. It all cover more area and it’s 1/4” thick so I might get these and the flat washers. See which one is best.

Well those beveled ones were tiny so I went with the normal 5/8” hose washer. We will see how those work. I might have to glue like 3 of them together.

wow those 3 really changed my alignment (the camber to be specific). Good thing I have the life time alignment at tires plus so I made an appointment.

The washers did? That makes sense actually, I guess it's like putting a little spacer between the ball joint and spindle.

What made you do that again btw? Was it because the boots don't seal at the bottom? SPCs are like that, the old grease comes out the bottom of the boot when you grease them.

Yeah there was a gap under the boot so I added the washers and it actually looks good. I’ll get a picture later. I didn’t take one. But it’s better.

Are you sure it isn't the fact that you removed one entire ball joint and installed a new one, the MOOG, leaving room for accidental adjustment during the swap? I didn't notice any alignment change with the two washers I used. I figure since they're rubber or whatever and not metal, they likely compress a bit too.

well I have the lifetime alignment so I’m might as well take it in there. And when I get the new boots I’ll take it in again.

I’m gonna have to check it again. I might have to add a forth washer until I get the classic boots they are sending me. The moog boots are way shorter so there is lots of room between the boot and the steering knuckle. They said they were sending me the classic boots yesterday so hopefully they get here sometime next week.

Does anyone know if the classic boots are the same ones that are having the cracking issues? I am redoing the front end and just stumbled upon this thread, of course after ordering a pair of JBA UCA’s.

Something I’ve noticed on JBA’s website, they’re actively updating a note at the top of their site about the boot situation. So far for me, the way I installed their classic boots is holding up well. No grease loss and I put a decent amount in.

Did you use the grease they require or just any ball joint grease will do?
