I've never seen a step side of that vintage... is that factory?

I am in a similar situation... Looking at a RUST FREE (arizona truck) '82. Asking $1600.

Do it dude... not much to lose

definitely go for it... awesome deal. I want to buy a similar truck and create a basic mechanic class at the school i teach at. Not to mention a buddy of mine had one that had been buried, rolled and had the engine flooded a few times and it still runs on his farm today.

Was it also lit on fire and dropped off a building?

knowing this kid certainly possible, i'd like to see that though, without a person in the truck of course. Check that...make it a ford ranger n save the taco.

    A few bolts are different.
Maybe the frame/engine is an 81, the cab is not.

Shit I have bought my last 3 trucks for 500 each, I use each for parts and it's not much money for a truck

Selling my 96 Tacoma to fund the FJ80 build up.
    X2 on the 84 / 85.

The replacment fiberglass beds had smaller fenders ~ those fenders look to be off of a full size Ford Dodge Chev.

Other Things to look for are...

    1. Frame patch / rust at the front of the rear spring mounts
    2. Head gasket
    3. Transmission bearings
    4. Vin on rt front frame rail / dash tag / title match (or not).

That bed looks like a stepside C-10 Chevy bed. 79-88ish.
