Right but the filter comes with a drain and o-ring so the use of a fumoto in that location isn’t necessary. Saves 30 seconds tops. Pull the oem metal cap and snap in the plastic drain.

I was just answering the question as asked. "Is it even important to drain the housing?"
With the drain tube I mentioned, It just minimizes the mess vs. the plastic drain tool that comes with the cartridge, not a time saver by any means
Using the Fumoto in the cartridge housing, I never tried it. OP did, and now we all know what happens

Lol it's all good. Glad I could provide some Friday entertainment. I thought it was a neat idea to try. Just ordered that tube/plug thing. That'll do exactly what I want.

You can supervise me the next mod day we got so I don't regrease my bushings with crisco or something lol.

Never understood the appeal. I mean. How often are you changing the oil that removing the drain plug is such a chore?

I've not heard great things from the Fumoto valves (as far as the drain plug goes). The best way is the OEM plug if you're still set on doing something "easier" there are definitely better solutions out there. Scotty Kilmer went on a rant about the Fumoto valves a few years ago and proposed an alternative solution which still didn't require a wrench for oil changes and had 3 different ways it was sealed. It also included an attachment with a hose to direct the oil when it was time to change.

Not heard of bash fab! I like the look of Relentless Fab's rear bumper, I'll take a look at their stuff. Didn't know we had a fab shop so close!

Not having to deal with a drain pan and draining straight into an empty jug is amazing.

Reduces preparation time and overall workload. Chances of spilling oil is minimized. Oil flinging from sudden gust of wind is now a non-concern. Draining straight into an empty jug is a game changer.

Also everything can be done in literally 5-10 minutes.

100% this. Fumoto on the drain plug, along with Jowett's oil filter housing with a different version of Fumoto valve, makes the entire process
way less of a hassle, and way less messy.

Do people use the little filter housing drain when changing their oil? I tried it once, just a little squirt came out and still was a little messy taking the filter off. Then the little plastic drain was a pain to remove. Maybe I suck at it or something, but I skip that step now. I just spray off the filter housing with brake cleaner before reinstalling
