I know it's depressing! I don't know why my Sumgmug acct. doesn't allow me to upload longer than 28 seconds. Bullshirt!

 

A buddy of mine who's on vacation in CA posted on the bookfaceplace today that gas out there is at $4.89 a gallon and it cost him over $50 to fill up the little 13 gallon tank in his rental car before he turned it in.

 

Why are you guys using premium, did you guys slip in blowers when I wasn't paying attention or something? I did it rarely when towing but never ran anything other than 87.

 

Whatchu got on there that calls for premium? Even the turboosters don't call for above regular I don't think.

I was out there in March 3.759. That was getting out of Redondo beach proper to get to the cheap stuff that was like 4.109 or so if I remember correctly. And the day before I left I topped up for 2.599 in Mass.

 

89. The 4Runner seems to like it for summer gas.

 

I've never run it before in any vehicle but this one sure prefers it. Better gas mileage, noticeable difference. The 5.0L is a 12:1 compression motor.

I think the boosted motors call for it due to EPA ratings. The 5.0L sure does.

Wait for Toyotas new EV's

 

My 2G used to ping like mad on 87. My 3G runs better on 93.

 

I am excited to see the new Tundra. Even without a hybrid or EV option, with updated tech and a 3.5 twin turbo it'll get what I like about my Ford combined with Toyota build quality and I'd definitely consider it next time around.

 

My 2011 4.0 hated 87. It pinged a lot and had to downshift on hills that it could otherwise stay in 5th on if it had 91 in the tank.

The Ford gets 91/93 too, it recommends it for towing, hauling, hilly driving, etc. and I think people have run them on dynos and proven they make noticeably more power on high octane fuel.

I still had 80 to E indicated on the cluster. I never thought pumps that stop at $100 would annoy me. It seems to be about 50/50 for ones that do and don't.

 

Turbos like octane, for sure. Smoother and stronger all around.

 

In 2nd gens the 4cyl is a perfectly square motor which will run better on higher octane, and the 1gr v6 is a mm or 2 off from being perfectly square so it also benefits a little from higher octane

 

I have only run premium since new otherwise I get horrible lag/pings/hesitation between 45/55. Averaging 21.8 mpg; not sure if they switched to summer blend yet.

 

I'm cheap, I only run 87. Although I do make sure I only get it at reputable places though. If I put in a no name or cheap gas I get much worse mpg's.

 

I typically go to Shell or Cumberland Farms. I haven't tried 93 (I never see 91 here) in the 4Runner.

 

It's usually Shell or Mobil for me.

how was the bbq? We got some brisket from startline brewery last weekend and it was dry AF... hard to find decent bbq in New England... the coop in millbury is hit or miss as well.
