No problems with my 21.........and after reading through this site for months prior to owning my truck I was getting geared up for the hunt. So far, nothing unusual to report.

Mods? We don't need no stinking mods.
Can't compare to older Gen 3 models, but my '21 OR is all over the place. Shifts gears for no reason on level ground with the cruise control on.

My 19 hunts especially on hills... is there any downside to Kd max tune?

My tacoma was like that for around 1,500 miles. Its very different now...shifts similar to my 2001 tundra 4 speed, except with 2 more overdrive gears which is nice. I can cruise 70 mph or so at about 1,800 rpm in 6th instead of 2,200 like the tundra in 4th. Gotta love it if a slower vehicle gets in your way. This v6 has some giddy up.

Cruise control on mine is a complete cluster fuck. On hills it will drop gears and seem to do max throttle at times. I stopped using the cruise control it's so bad.

I have no issues with my transmission. Always in whatever gear I want it in.

That's how my obs powerstroke is. It's an antique but the cruise control works better on it than my Tacoma

I really like the results of the OVTune... I see lots of talk about this KDMaxx tune, but speaking about what I have now OVtune for whatever gearing and tire size you have was a remarkable improvement for me.

My 2021 has 2600 miles and gets better as the miles increase. When I first got it it was all over the place

I really can’t think of any downside to it . it saved me 7grand. I was already contemplating on getting the Maggie but with this tune, I changed my mind . I’m completely satisfied with this.

My 21 OR was terrible until I put the KDmax tune on. Now it is fine.

None seen by me, so far, after 600 miles. Although, I have to say that each instance will be slightly different, so one has to work with KD Kreg (@PapaRee ) to get it dialled in exactly how you want it. There is really no one-size-tune fits all and Kreg will make sure you’re happy before accepting payment. It’s a win, win.

I test drove a 2019 leftover when I first started looking at different trucks. I didn't think it gear hunted too bad definitely no more than the 5 speed auto in the jeep liberty I had. Then I ended up buying a 2020. I never even took it for a test drive until the day I went to take it home. Did not see any then but over the first month it did a few times.
It does something weird now at one spot where I come to a stop sign on level road but make a right turn where it immediately becomes downhill. If I try to accelerate too much it feels like the engine just is racing freely. Sort of like you pushed in the clutch on a manual and are still on the gas. If I stay light with the throttle it's fine. I think the computer can't figure out to upshift faster in that unique situation.

If you mean the latest tsb refresh, that was already done by the dealer before i took ownership of my truck. Truck basically had less than 1 mile on it when i did the 160 mile drive home. Transmission shifting was still all over the place, but you could feel it getting better every 100 miles the more i drove it.
