and I said "Anyone who shorted Gamestop..."

They're the most stubborn, smart, obstinate little shits on the planet. They're awesome. Always take the high ground, always find the blanket.

In a year at the annual hookers and blow party, you can fondly tell your kid that all the talking about it too much was worth it

The one in the jacket immediately stakes her claim to a blanket as soon as she sees it. My gf hates it, i find it infinitely amusing haha

You never met my old German Shorthair. He was so stubborn about water it was hysterical. He would not ever go in water past his ankles. If I was out hunting him and had a stream crossing he'd take off running about 100 yards before the stream. He'd run as far as he needed too find a place he could cross ankle deep. Then he'd run all the way back.

The best part was when he got about 100 yards from me he'd drop his speed down to a slow jog. Then he'd come up to me like it was no big deal that he disobeyed commands to heel. lol

Make sure they have ramps/steps for everything higher than a foot...they crash abdomen first into beds and sofas and break their spine...it's an unfortunate side effect of the wiener length...
    I said "Hey...there's a reason I talk about it...some day you'll understand..."

haha! Dogs are awesome. My folks have a Boykin Spaniel that has the reverse problem. If he sees water from on top of a cliff he's going to find a way to get to it. We duck hunt with him out of a boat, and he'll swim laps around the decoys just for the hell of it.

We have couch and bed stairs, and he uses them...most of the time. If the door bell rings, all bets are off. It's flying leap from wherever he's at. Keeping their weight down definitely helps when they decide to go kamikaze.

Good thing you've got a short-hair buddy. Every time I'm in Phoenix or Vegas or So Cal and I see a Husky or Golden Retriever I want to smack the owners in the face.

It was raining and 48 while we were out today. Pray for me tomorrow am when I'm playing golf.

My buddies labs had a great trick that he never intentionally taught them. They would both dive for dead ducks. No shit.

It all started with his first lab Chase. Chase had this rock that we used to throw around and he would always bring back the same damn rock. One day my buddy and I are drinking beers on his dock at his new house on a lake. I'm a little drunk which makes the asshole in me really shine. Chase comes over with the rock. I take the rock and throw it right off the dock. It's about 6' of water.

Chase jumps in and goes head first down. He comes up gasping and gurgling. No rock. Problem solved. Or so a think.

About 5 attempts later that little fucker comes up with a rock. WTF? My buddy and I are truly amazed. We do it a few more times and Chase starts getting it on the first or second dive. I'm not sure it's the same rock but it's cool as hell.

My buddy comes up with the idea of marking the rock with paint. After taking some orange survey paint to the rock we throw it back in the water. First dive later Chase comes up with the only orange rock in that lake.

A few weeks later my buddy gets a young lab he names Cole. Chase is still old enough to hunt but training a younger dog while the older dog is still field worthy is the best way to go. Cole picks up the rock trick from his older brother. Now my buddy has 2 dogs that can dive for rocks. Crazy.

A few months later duck season starts. Both dogs do great working together to get ducks. On about our 4th day out I clip a wood duck that goes down in a stand of cat tails on the other side of the marsh. I watch him land then see him take that death breath before he dives under. He never comes back up.

If you duck hunt you know that happens a lot. You almost always lose the duck. Well that rock diving shit paid off. Both dogs swim over and start sniffing around. Cole gets really close to the last spot I saw that Woodie. He does the diving trick and comes up empty. Chase follows up with his own diving trick and comes up empty. Then Cole dives and comes up with the duck.

My buddy and I were so mesmerized watching it we let about 15 ducks fly right by us without even bringing our guns to arms. We'd both shot plenty of ducks but neither of us had ever seen what his dogs did in the marsh that day.

That's fucking awesome. Working breeds are amazing when they decide to get shit done and do what they do.
