If it snowed for 11 out of 12 months, I'd be super pumped.
@lynyrd3 is totally on board with that too, I know.

 

I would be happy with a real 6 months of snow and straight to summer months. I really dislike the fall, and spring.

 

Hi Folks-

Any guidance about auxiliary lighting in MA? Legality? Advisability? What I saw online referred to a federal guideline that, well, didn't make much sense to me. I hear that in many states it is not legal to have extra lights on the roof. As it is not "mission critical" for our truck I don't need to push limits, but I could see it might be very useful and would be a big hit with my motor head of a teenager. TIA!

 

I have seen many vehicles with extra light on the roof and on the sides for that matter.
Not sure what is in the books for legality. @Blais03 do you happen to know?

 

Never had an issue running ditch lights and a 22" bar on the front of my truck. I just don't use them on the road unless its very dark and a back road where there isnt much traffic. Never had an issue during inspection either

 

I am running ditch lights, a 30 inch dual bar in my grill, and a 38" on top of my roof. No issues as long as I don't have them on while I am On-Road.....offroad I have them on all the time. Never had one issue. Even getting the truck inspection.

 

I believe any aftermarket light technically has to be covered when on the road. They cannot be used on the road. I have been stopped but never ticketed for them being on. I was told at inspection they need covers but they didn’t fail me for them. With all that being said I don’t use them much on the roads and I don’t have any issues with them legally and It’s never been mentioned to me again after that one time at inspection.

 

I have 7" spots behind my grill, a 30" light bar in the lower grill, and amber KC fogs. I use the spots and bar on the roads as they are hooked to my high beams, but only on empty roads where you'd use high beams. I have always been told that technically the lights need to be covered when on the roads, but have never had a inspection person say anything to me.

I was hassled by the state police once about the amber fogs, he claimed they were changing colors. I told them they are DOT approved and always amber (they really are), then realized he was just fishing for drunk drivers as he let me go no issue.

I bought myself something. The differential lock on it works great! It was definitely cared for mechanically, just some little scrapes and dings here and there.



So, @Boston10Taco my old Craftsman is up for grabs if you want a project. The engine, transmission, and battery are good, but cosmetically it isn't perfect, it has a deck vibration that I think is caused by a bad spindle or two and the rear tires lose most of their air if they sit for more than a week . The only thing preventing me from giving it away is the Vanguard engine on it - I'd let it go for cheap, though.
