So I picked up this unfinished set of projectors along with a few other things for my truck this weekend. The guy claims they are morimoto projectors but doesn’t remember which kind, I think they’re an older version of the FX-Rs maybe?

My main question here is about adding the actual lights, it seems he has everything all here and the projectors are mounted nicely. I’m assuming I need some sort of plug and play HID kit. It would be nice if I could add some sort of halos around the projector shroud as well. Those I definitely have no idea how I would wire in lol

If someone could point me in the right direction and tell me what I am missing, that would be amazing. I could take more photos if necessary. Mounting and adjusting the lights shouldn’t be an issue as that I’ve done before.

I’ve searched thru a couple threads and I still am unsure exactly what’s going on here. I’m a lighting noob and only learned how to wire a light bar a few months ago, although I’ve been wiring subs since I was 17. Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert but I'll crack a shot at it. What all came with your lights?

Wouldn't hurt especially if you don't know how many hours the current bulbs have or if they were ever fired up being that its an incomplete setup.

Okay cool. I had @david.e help me around the same time I posted this thread as well. He recommended these: https://www.theretrofitsource.com/d2s-xb35-BL-XB35D2S

I’m not entirely sure which of the two would work for my Mini D2S projectors. Excuse my lack of knowledge on the topic. I just wanna make sure I order the correct ones.

You’ll need a D2S ballast(the thing that powers the bulb) it plugs into the back. I’d replace the bulbs while you’re there) I see some rust? inside, so no telling the condition of the bulbs.
The black 2 pin you are holding in the picture is the high beam activation solenoid. This will plug directly into your 9005/9006 high beam connector in the truck.

It doesn't matter the the "god"of tacoma lights is here. The link works for me, sorry it didn't work for you.
But, if need be, click on his screen name, click on profile, then click on postings... go to the bottom if that page and look for all threads started by him.

This thread got premium tech support.

out of curiosity, OP, any specific reason for the swap? Looks? The 2nd Gen reflectors outperform 3rd gen projectors by a significant margin. A harness and some premium bulbs and you are head and shoulders ahead without spending much at all.

FWIW, I assume searches are private so only the user who initiated the search can view results. Similar to when I try to copy and paste a photo from a conversation or something, I can see it, others can’t.

Awesome, thanks. The rust looking stuff appears to be whatever the person who built these used to glue the projector in place. I picked these up for $25 including morimoto headlight sealant. The person I got them from said they mounted them up and didn’t like them so they took them off the truck. They also mentioned the high beam will stick on and you have to click it back and forth once or twice to return to low beam. My only reason for changing is really aesthetics. We’ll see how I like them.
