Maybe a dumb question, the tach on my truck shows 6K RPM as redline. From what I read, the KDMax tune shifts @ 7250 RPM. Are there any concerns with running the engine like this?

will the engine blow up? no
will this take life off the total engine life? probably not enough for you to notice
does it put extra stress on the motor that wasn't there before? yes
is there a risk of pushing your truck to hard limits? sure but there is a risk. same with installing a steel bumper, or cutting up your bed sides, or putting on a supercharger.

really it comes down to personal preference and if you think the benefits out weigh the costs

Performance always comes with a cost

@SubaruTheTacoma thanks for the reply. Understand the tradeoffs. Was mainly looking at it from a longevity perspective as I intend to keep the truck for some time. I had my 2008 for 12 years. Didn't get into mods with it though.

Realistically, you can't drive fast enough, often enough, for that to be an issue and NOT to go to jail. Always shifting at 7250 rpm isn't going to happen. Most of the time you're going to drive much more subtly.

You mean you all don't always drive with your right foot on the floor, gas mileage be damned?? :)

Greatly appreciate the thoughts. Yes would/should be an infrequent occurrence.

Maybe it's just the way I'm reading your post. But you asked if the tune shifts at 7250rpm. The answer is only if you make it. Otherwise it will shift at about near RPMs as ECT,or stock-ish, depending on how you are driving. But You probably meant that.

@banjoGrampa yes and no. Based on previous posts, I was under the assumption that the tune was set to shift at 7250 RPM with your foot in the accelerator. Personally, i have a tendency to do this, maybe not through all gears mind you but, somewhat heavy footed. Was more curious about the potential implications of doing this even somewhat periodically. Guess if I am really concerned about it, just need to control myself!!

Bro this ain’t NASCAR! These tunes aren’t going to make IS350 like performance either...

Just because it doesn't perform like a performance car, doesn't mean I don't drive like it is! :bikewheelie2:

Yes I'm on 5.29's and run the regular throttle. It's pretty sensitive. I've gotten used to it though. I'll probably flash to either light or super light when I go hit the trails. City driving it's perfect IMO though.

Sorry for delay. Got my 2nd covid vaccine Saturday at 8am. Finished my 500 mile gear break in around 1pm. Flushed front and rear diffs than refilled. Did my 45 mile light tow break in, unhooked my trailer than took the long way home. Came around a corner, was rolling about 20-25 mph and decided to punch it. Took off nicely and before you knew it I was at 75mph at about 7200Rpm. Next turn was coming up quick so I had to let off and settle down. Makes we wonder how much higher it would have revved before shifting. Not sure what gear it was in. I'd say 4th or 5th. Running 5.29's, 33's, some extra weight. After that covid vaccine side effects kicked in and I spent Sunday & Monday in bed like a baby.

PapaRee you mind sharing? I am wanting the tune too but like this person I spend some time in 4lo and I do not wish to be having my neck snapped because of going over some rocks slowly lmao.

I have a stock weight truck so maybe LT or wifetip would be best for me.
