    Hi all,
I am in negotiations with a dealer on an 07 Tacoma Double Cab TRD sport with 26,000 miles.
I was wondering if there is a source to get info such as repair history, warranty work done, recalls etc.?
I'm NOT looking for a carfax, I want the official Toyota info that is linked to the vin. Coming form Ford trucks, this info would be what Ford calls an OAISIS report and would show everything done to a particular truck through any dealer in the network like oil changes, tsb work, recalls, warranty repairs and any other info that the dealer has linked to the vin of the truck.
I have the vin if someone has acess to the info or if there is a web site that will provide this info.
    Thanks

Welcome to TW! Just curious, have you asked the dealer for this? If you don't want to go that route thinking they may lie to you about it, I would call another dealer with the VIN and see if they can tell you anything about it. As for the answer to your question, I'm not sure if there is an actual report.

    Thanks.
I have not asked the dealer for this report as I wasn't sure Toyota even had such records available to consumers. I'm sure a carfax will tell me just about everything I need to know.

Is there anything specific I should be looking at with an 07 Taco? I have heard about the rear leaf TSB, and transmission mounts causing vibrations. Is there anything else I need to be aware of before purchase?

    Thanks again

Soon as i bought my 2005 DC tac i went to Toyota dealer to pull service hist, to continue service schdules (not with them :D) and with vin no. he pulled entire history and also said there is a brake recall..meaning a software would be installed..and its pending to do. So going to toyota dealer with vin no. will help..but without ownership paper..i dont know if they are willing to pull that info..they may..give it a shot. GOOD LUCK

I found carfax to be good in tracking dmv type historical data but dealer input data or stuff not done at a dealer is not that great or only as good as what goes into certain systems. It is not all encompassing.

I would try the dealer first, even ask about previous owner history. Who, what, why they traded. See how upfront they are. Its a good signal on how they will be in after sale conversations if need be.

Welcome to the forum good luck with your purchase. The Sports are very nice tacomas!

You should be able to find all the TSBs on this site, not sure, but I think there is a fix for the vibrations (but I think it was on the drive shaft mount). I'll see if I can pull it up in my old subscriptions. I would make sure all the TSB fixes are done, other than that, if it feels alright driving, go for it.

Michelin 265/75/16 MS2's, Grillcraft MX series/TOYOTA badging. FJ/SE TRD Anthracite gray wheels. Katzkin leather/heated seats.

I would ask the seller if he had any problems if you took it to a Toyota dealer and had a prepurchase inspection done by the dealer. You would have to pay for this of course, but it may be worth it in the long run. A little $$ spent up front could save you alot of $$ later.

If the seller balks at this.....walk away. Thats a warning flag. If he was confident enough to put the truck on his lot, he should have no issues with your gettting it inspected. There are many trucks out there to choose from. And in this economy its a buyers market IMHO.

Welcome and good luck with your search.

Thanks for all the insight and tips, I hope the buying experience goes well.
Being a Toyota CPO vehicle with only 26000 miles I will have about 3 more years and 74000 miles of warranty coverage so Im not worried about major failures, but I have read that tsb issues are only covered for 36000 miles to the original owner. Since I will not be the original owner any tsb issues will not be covered after the sale.
The thing that kind of scares me about this truck is it has been sitting in their showroon since Sept. of 2010. I find it unusal for a truck with these options and low mileage to go unsold for so long so that does raise an eyebrow, but we are working towards what I consider a great price so I am willing to buy provided the thing wasn't a lemon for the first owner.
I also know the truck was purchased by the current dealer from an auction, this truck was not a trade in, so contacting the original owner will be tough

I believe that is the recall work to shave the pedal and reflash the ecu for the new brake override system.

That is an awesome website! Thanks for posting it!

It shows all of the service history for the vehicle. It's nice that Toyota allows access to that stuff.

Wow I never knew about this. I signed up too. My truck has had regular dealer service right up until I bought it at 113k. Although I can't find any record of the plugs ever being changed. And I knew when I bought it that the transmission had never been serviced. To the OP though most of the time when I've seen low mileage vehicles going to auction it's because they were repos. Nothing really wrong with that as long as the service history is good up until then.
