Rust on paint!

Has anyone had a problem with rust on paint? It looks like it’s only around the welding spots on the truck bed. I have attached pictures of the rust spots. I have looked around on TW and some people have had the same problem but not many. I was hoping to find out what people have done to get it fixed and start more documentation for this problem. I want to get some fire power from TW! Probably just take it to the dealership lol. My truck is a 2019 White Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4. Manufactured in Mexico. Bought it in Hawaii in MAR 2019. This is halfway common, take it to the dealer and have them fix it. The white trucks show these spots the most, so most of the ones I have seen is on white.

 

Just called the dealership and made an appointment. Is there any other places I should look at? I looked at the doors and all around the truck. Basically any place I can look at with out taking things apart. Thank you your time and help. I appreciate it

 

There are 2 common places, the welds on the head of the bed, and in the front door thresholds under the weatherstripping. The front door one takes awhile to show up and may of been fixed with the 2019 models already.

 

Hey OP, did your dealership ever solve this for you. Right now I have a similar problem but in different spots in the bed, and they are asking toyota warranty if it falls under warranty. How was the color matching and did they redo the whole panel that those rust spots were found on or did they just redo the general area that they were found at. Only asking because I have ceramic coat and I'm trying to figure out if they strip the whole panel of paint and repaint it or they only repaint the general area that the rust is found at.

 

They aren't going to strip the whole panel. They will get out of it as cheap as possible.

 

Right on, and did you do this through the toyota in salt lake / Servco Toyota and my rep said it would take 3-4 weeks to get the rust out. Just out of curiosity how long did yours take ?

 

I did not have it done, I just know how they work. They won't spend big $$ to fix it, but they will make it look pretty.
