I guess it depends on the tone it is said

 

Whatever age you think is appropriate, less 5 years.

 

She is so stinking cute!!!!! And she has grown up so much!!

 

Seriously, I catch myself not telling my 5 year old daughter she's getting big. I don't mean it in a bad way but I also don't want to sound mean. I agree, 5 should be the cut off.

 

I tell my 13-year-old that she needs to quit getting bigger... And the kid is not chunky and any former fashion. But she needs to stop growing damn it because she is 4 in shorter than me as of right now

Gritto's Roadtrips...Premier Episode

Mrs Gritto and I took a road trip last Wednesday to the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania.
To celebrate my retirement.
I only took a few pictures...these are at the family cemetery on the hill overlooking the farm.

The oldest graves date from not long after 1763, which was the year the French and Indian War ended.
That's the year Peter der Alte (Old Pete) settled there.
He must have had guts, cuz the French and their Shawnee allies had only just been defeated.
Earlier in that war, there had been innumerable raiding parties and massacres up to 200 miles to the east.
It's mostly forgotten now, but Pennsylvania and Virginia took the brunt of those raids, compared to the other colonies.

At that time, Quakers still controlled the government of the colony.
For a long time, the legislature refused to fund anything to do with military defense measures.
This led to an armed insurrection and a march on Philadelphia by settlers.
A clash was narrowly averted and the legislature gave way.

Nice to see my cousins are maintaining the cemetery.

The Laurel Highlands, as the name implies, are a Plateau.
Not a very dramatic landscape...it looks like gently rolling hills.
But from time to time you come upon very deep, steep sided narrow valleys.
I shoulda taken more pictures...sorry.

The farm is just to right of center in the second picture.
Beyond are spoil heaps from coal mining.




The line of trees in the middle distance is the unincorporated village of Pine Hill.
It stands at the highest elevation of any named settlement in the state.
Beyond in the far distance are windmills.
The ridge on which they stand marks the watershed between the Ohio river and the Potomac and Susquehanna rivers to the east.

 

Speaking of Susquehanna... when we goin fishin??
