God the Oilers had Nurse on the ice for 3/5ths of that game. That's not great coaching.

A bad end to a well played game. The irony is, Jarry is a great stick handler. The playoffs just seem to write their own story and it is always interesting.

He usually is very good, like you said. That was insane decision-making lol. And like I said afterwards he just went full panic mode because he was not set or in any type of form what-so-ever. Tough one. I guess the top line getting changed wasn't on the agenda either, like we talked about. But they haven't done nearly enough. McCann and Kap need to step up also.

As far as the Jets game, I feel asleep somewhere around 1am. So I have no clue how the end unfolded, just that the Jets won. I'll take it.

I still do a little bit of sports memorabilia collecting and over the last year, I tried to build up a collection of Hellebuyck cards. Maybe that will prove to be smart lol.

This time of year it's the little plays that are made, or not, that decide most games and series. As for Kapanen, I thought he was moving well through the Islander defense. He had a real fluid skating style and out pressure on their defense and goalie on at least one occasion. The Crosby line did much better in creating space, but much of that was off the rush.

It ended on a pitiful dump in attempt combined with a bad change that resulted in Kyle Connor being allowed to do Kyle Connor things lol.

At the end of the day that top line hasn't done enough. They have no net-front presence and if you aren't scoring on the rush, then you gotta get it done with some zone time and chances around the net. Tips, rebounds etc. And it seems like they are getting pushed around in those battle areas. Don't get me wrong, against a team like NYI, you can't make mistakes, like you said. That's literally their game plan is to play tight, win battles, keep us outside and be opportunistic WHEN we make mistakes, not if. Lol. And as we know, the Pens are prone to bad giveaways and stupid mistakes, especially when they aren't scoring. So none of this is surprising, at least to me.
When you are that long into a game, it usually ends up being something like that. I didn't see the goal but Connor is sick, so if he has space, he usually makes you pay lol.

The Jets game was good for highlights. I'm still giggling that the Jets called Wheelers block with his Pounder Plums a "hand injury" during the break before OT.:bananadead:

I thought that looked bad at first. I did think it was his wrist or something, but was good to see him come back.

I took a puck in the nuts once calling a Midget AAA game. I was reffing, went to right at the net since the play was going to crash the net and I needed to see where the puck went and whether the goalie had a shot at it. You know, doing what NHL refs do so poorly now. Anywho, puck squirts off the goalies pad to the opposite side and back a bit, D pinches and literally rifles the puck wide of the open net and into my cup. I was not in good shape for a few minutes after that, one of my linesman actually blew it down and the only upside was the smoking 20 yo Nursing student who rushed to my side and had to ask me how the boys were feeling lol.

I had two kids after that. Cup took everything, I actually had a lot of bruising where the cup hit my body but everything else was okay. A good fitting cup is critical lol.
