Have you guys seen all the new memes about "buying the dip" in the future? People having PTSD when someone says "buy the dip" and it takes them back to the GME war.

I had a cost basis that went a little haywire and it had to do with tax losses - within 30 days, might be similar.

 

Who cares when it’s at 10 million, won’t even look like a rounding error

I filed a complaint with the SEC over it.

My first share was a $340 limit order placed on 1/27/2021. When it transferred over to Fidelity it said I bought .004 of a share at $438 on 12/29/2020!!!

How does one buy a fraction of a share before they actually buy it, not to mention the high from that day was $21 for $GME.

Exactly. Very sus, so I has to tell the SEC, even though I know they won't do shit about it.

 

My guy put me on hold a while and came back and said there has been a wave of these cases at Fidelity with people complaining about AMC and GME shares coming over with the wrong cost basis. He then explained to me what the 'Wash Sale Rule' is and that what is likely happening is RH is adjusting for losses within 30 days of purchasing the stock price so the basis is different than what they put in my account. So now I have to research my buy/sell history to prove that is false and have them open a case with RH which he said would take 2 weeks. I'm sure there are plenty of apes doing this as well...

 

I have OCD, so when I transferred I already had all of the history in a spreadsheet ready to manually enter. So what does it take for them to open a case with RH?

I only have that one share and another 4 that have issues luckily.

 

I also have it all in a spreadsheet and I can see my gain/loss from my ins and outs. I do have some losses within a 30 day period which would make sense for the wash sale rule BUT the math doesn't add up with what Robinhood is saying. They also have specific dates for individual stock that were transferred that do not align to my actual purchases. So it isn't this wash sale rule. Calling them back soon...

 

let us know how it goes. I haven't sold a single share of GME. only like .001 of a share when I randomly went with partial shares that day, and then decided I like whole numbers better lol

 

My strategy was to save all of my transaction records from RH and then I'll send them to my accountant when it's time and say, "here, this looks like something you can probably figure out."
