Little of this, little of that.
How do one of these cost out the door?

Original plan wasn't to get one until spring of 2022 (wanted to take care of some other things financially first). But, Scout announced a price increase was coming, so we decided to hop on and put in our order soon. Saved us a bit over $1300 in purchase price. So if it is a little later, it's not the end of the world for us.

How tall is the camper once it's on the truck?

I would be concerned about underpasses and tree branches.

Depending on your options, 23 to 26k-ish. Not a lot of options, but they are pricy. I already had a fridge, so that was $1k i didn't need to spend, but we definitely wanted the fireplace that was around $1400.

Underpasses shouldn't be an issue, as this thing is FAR shorter than a 5th wheel trailer, or a full sized truck camper on a full sized truck.

The camper is a little over 7 feet tall. So whatever your bed height is, plus 7 feet should be pretty darn close. I haven't seen too many overpasses at 11 feet or under, but I'll admit I used to regularly drive under some train tracks that were prolly about that height.

As for trees, absolutely right. If you are doing some offroading with a camper like this, you better watch out. I don't do anything too extreme, so i'm not too worried.

There was of course one thing my wife insists on these days. Indoor plumbing, including a shower. And don’t even think about suggesting a wet bathroom.

I agree on that, I don’t want to wipe down the toilet before using it.

I would love real plumbing, but that just isn't feasible for me at this time. Will need a bigger truck first. But for now this will be our stop-gap til we move on to a much bigger rig. Will also be a great chance to see if we like the truck camper lifestyle without a HUGE investment.

The last couple years we've been doing a Home Depot bucket with trash bags and cat litter. It has done its job so far.

I don’t know how old you and your wife are. But as mine goes older she insisted on more creature comforts.

I still happy to toss a bag and pad in the jeep and go.

Just turned 36. We are definitely looking forward to the creature comforts down the line, just making do for now.

Don't even have the camper yet, but ordered up the Froli TRAVEL bed kit. When looking at them a month or so ago they were out of stock and they said they'd be getting a shipment in July. Figured when I saw them available I should grab a kit!

    https://nickleatlantic.com/products/froli-travel-modular-bed-system

Here's an image from a FB group I'm in. I was hoping I might be the first to do this, but they beat me to it! It looks great, and they said it made a big improvement, both for comfort and help with under bed condensation. I believe this is the standard Froli STAR system, which I think is a bit taller than the TRAVEL system. And if you are confused on how you sleep on this, your normal mattress goes on top of it! :)

I have a yoho scout camper and I'm having lots of issues with it. The wiring isn't working from the solar panels to charge my yeti goal zero battery plus they are selling the campers with a recalled yeti goal zero wire that could cause a fire. I asked scout what they were going to do about it. Still haven't heard back months late. Here recently emailed them about new not charging wiring issue and all I got was the same message as last time "Working with my plant manager on this". A list of other problems were they showed us a Pendleton cushions, which when we picked ours up they just were plain grey not the Pendleton. It was missing screws around the door frame. The wood is all rough around edges, could use a little sanding. The caulk was missing/ not enough so a cap was open where a bolt head is going to the rack on the inside. Didn't get dust covers for the jacks. I really like the ideal of these scouts but not all to thrilled right now.

Sorry to hear about your issues. Which cord/Yeti model is the issue? Have you confirmed whether it's the solar wiring that's the issue or the Yeti itself? I bought a new Yeti 500x a few months back, and the actual unit's charging input failed after it's first use. Goal Zero sent me a new unit and that one has been working well.

Were you working with Ryan at Scout? He usually seems good on getting back to people I've spoken with. And yeah, I've heard of multiple small issues (probably since it is so new and they hadn't quite got their QC down yet), but most people Scout's been taking care of. Most I know are local, though, so it's pretty easy for them to have their stuff fixed... Where are you located?

So the yeti does take a charge with the cord that's the house style input(the input port you use while it's just not being used) but the other two inputs, one being the normal input(black and red leads stack on top of each other) and the solar mod input both won't take a charge from the solar wiring. So that makes me think wiring problem. I have talked to Ryan and he was great with a lot of dumb questions I had. Just QC on yeti/scout needs to be better I feel. I haven't even taken it anywhere because I was waiting on truck parts.

You might try sticking a multi-meter to the output pins on the Red/black connector coming from your solar panel. This should tell you if the panel is actually making juice. You might swap the Red/Black of the multi-meter to the opposite colored pin as well, to make sure it's not wired backwards (I've heard that's a common issue in a lot of solar setups, not just on a Scout). If no power whatsoever is showing up, definitely sounds like a bad connection somewhere.

Well they are pretty new so there are probably some kinks to work out, but they should get back to you within a reasonable time frame.

I've got my Yoho pickup scheduled for next Thursday! Ended up being earlier than expected. It's already on the lot, but I've got month-end close this week at work, and my wife didn't want to skip our planned camping trip this weekend to pick it up. I've got a few last minute things to get my truck setup, anyhow, so it's probably a good thing. My new E-load Duratracs were already scheduled for install next Wednesday, and I'm just about finished painting up my forward camper tie down points for the Tacoma. Then off with the swingout, relocate the camera again, and take off the tailgate. I'm extremely excited. This also means I'll have the camper when I leave for Utah on the 16th!

Great news! Congratulations, would love to hear more about the camper once you get a chance to start using it. The YOHO and Kimbo are going to be seen more and more , they just make a lot of sense for Tacos.
